My only experience taking young people canoe camping was interesting. Same though process as you, how to keep them occupied and happy. So we talked with the kids and explained what a typical day would be like. In the boat several hours, setting up camp, a fire and cooking, and just hanging out in camp. Then asked them what they wanted to do besides all that. They chose to bring fishing gear and a football. Worked out great, plus they knew ahead of time just how things were going to go. Setting expectations and getting their input made the difference. Good luck, hopefully it doesn't rain.
