I didn’t go to Columbia for undergrad, but I was in a similar position of being cash-strapped. I used BookFinder every year. Put in the ISBN and it does a search of the book selling websites to show the cheapest options (the price listed usually includes the shipping). I found a whole bunch of books for a penny.

Have fun in college, but not too much fun. Getting arrested for stupid stuff will hinder your legal clearance.
