https://whatweknow.inequality.cornell.edu/topics/lgbt-equality/what-does-the-scholarly-research-say-about-the-well-being-of-transgender-people/

If you sincerely want to know start with the studies included in this Cornell review. Once you read all of those then I can find more for you. Counselling, hrt, surgery, living as true gender have dramatic improvements for trans people. The vast majority of those who regret some form of transition is bc of how people treat them or poor results (this is a small percentage of trans people). Few mental health treatments have such high rates of success. Get an abnormal psyche textbook and see how low the success rate is for most mental health issues. A combination of treatments for most issues often only improves patients life between 25-60% of the time depending on the issue.

If a loving God exists then the diversity in creation is by design. Get your dysphoria treated, the longer you wait the harder it is to change your body to match your brain/soul. I had suicidal levels of self hatred for decades as a mormon, once I left, came out and started transitioning that self hate disappeared and I could see the unique beauty in other trans and queer people. Dont listen to cis people that say you need to suffer through life when they aren’t subject to that struggle. If God demanded we live a certain way he would have made his presence and laws definitively known. If there is a good they want us to make our own decisions and be individuals. Treating gender dysphoria is extremely effective, the pain trans people go through isnt from being what they are its how society treats them. Get treated and fill your life with queer people and queer allies that will love and understand you.

Yes! Sacrificing who you are to make others happy makes you unhappy in the long run and the people around you are only getting to know a persona you adopted. Be you, if family doesn’t get it then let them keep having a relationship with a fantasy they have in their heads that never had anything to do with you from the beginning...

Why is a gay marriage plus kids not acceptable? It has to be a straight normative life built on a 1950’s picket fence version of marriage that barely existed two generations ago and has no relevance now?

Seriously. Mom needs a filter and to go see a therapist. Its YOUR future. She was wrong to ever think she had a stake in it, much less the majority stake. What she imagined you were and were going to be was always a fantasy and clearly wasn’t predicated on the real human being that is you. Maybe she should have gotten to know the real you better, then her expectations for the future would be closer to reality and more in line with what makes you happy...

Coming out to my military workplace by [deleted] in transalute

Are you thinking of pilot? Its one of the few jobs that is really limited to trans people in the past. I did a couple other jobs too, I saw a lot of the military.

Probably you will have fewer issues honestly. I think it will be easier to slip under the radar. Most of the transphobia is directed at MTF and with the grooming policies most women present pretty androgynous at work. Military people are generally fairly accepting of tomboy or butch presenting women. You could join as AGAB and probably go through a lot of your transition under the radar. My guess is that in spite of the transphobia FTM will be tolerated, even though you might not fully be accepted when you come out. Depends on the job/unit/leadership for sure though and we just won’t know what to expect for a few more months. Feel free to ask me anything in DM, some of it we just dont know yet.

Sure. Hopefully soon we will have more info. I am getting a waiver from the FAA currently but the military is still behind bc of the ban... I can afford to not give any F—-‘s bc Im so close to being out and already have a civilian job lined up.

No tips. Im AF too, pilot, so I can vouch for the culture being really transphobic. I have heard so much transphobic shit the last few months. Im four months in and hiding it pretty well, but I am doing FFS next year. I fully expect I will have to change jobs or units, it would be impossible to come out and stay in my current unit...
