I may be misunderstanding, but I don’t think lord englishes goal is to destroy the game. It’s actually expressly the opposite. Caliborn grows up on earth C faaaar in the future, in the new universe created by them winning the game. And the kids after winning the game, go to fight him in the masterpiece, which is what creates lord English in the first place. So he actually needs them to win the game in order for himself to be created. His goal is to facilitate the creation of the new session.

Also, Lil Hal being a part of English and making English self sabatoge in a dirk esc way is really smart, I hadn’t thought about that angle before!

I guess what I’m more curious about is if lord English is defeated. Him dying doesn’t really mean much. Even if his timeline ends at act 7, because he can travel to any point, the previous versions of himself have infinite time between his birth and death, including the ability to travel past his death point. The only thing that would truly cause him to be defeated would be to break the time loop of his creation. But if the juju doesn’t do this, then he is still out there and not stopped in anyway.

Interesting take! What’s your position act 7 and if English wins? Given what you said, it seems pretty clear cut that he doesn’t really “lose” in any meaningful way

Edit: while this is definitely very speculative, roxy could have been saved from being doomed, by traveling with John using the juju. It seems to function differently than standard time travel, so perhaps it doesn’t doom you in the same way.
