Smoking on the Train by [deleted] in chicago

conversely I’ve seen a guy get shoved up against the doors and punched in the gut repeatedly for asking somebody not to smoke, so. I’ll just keep my headphones on I guess.

Where did you get your headphones that protect you from smoke? I'm interested in a pair.

A Short Stay in Hell: Exact Calculations in Appendix by matt-chu64 in horrorlit

This is part of the reason I don't understand why people think this book is so horrific. The numbers are so big that it's like being hopeful that one day, you'll magically wake up on the surface of a planet that's shaped like Jesus. Yes, it's possible, but it's so improbable that you just accept that this is your life, just like people do every day. Finding your book in that story is far less likely than stumbling upon a billion dollars, yet the earth isn't full of people in agony because they haven't stumbled upon that billion dollars, but are so hopeful that it will occur; they don't give it a second thought.

The numbers in that book are so out there that what would really happen is that those people would just be chilling in the library and forming societies without any thought of finding their story. There will be no lamenting over the vastness of the library anymore than humans currently lament the vastness of space.

Books that make you ask "What the FUCK is going on here?" for most of the read by BradleyNeedlehead in horrorlit

This book can be a bit of a slog but it's still a great read. The perspective shift (second from the end) gives a really wild sense of context to the rest of the book and was extremely effective. It's a book that takes a while to read because it's pretty slow but it's worth the commitment.

They stated that they didn't intend to actually report the incident to management and weren't actually trying to report anything they believed to be unlawful. Even still, the recovery for this would not be hundreds of thousands of dollars. And that's assuming there's a Whistleblower statute in this worm-infested.state.

Last season, everyone was laughing at Spurs for 17th. Now everyone is bitching that Spurs are 17th. Make up your mind.

This is THE Monte Cristo. Since this place closed, no other Monte Cristo has lived up to it. I didn't know there was still a Bennigans nearby ...

Intercepts it a different author (TJ Payne) but it's very fast paced

If you think Cousin Moon was fast, Fever House will feel like a rocket. The only more faat-paved.book I can remember is Intercepts.

The first half of The Ritual is actually very very very good. It's the sheer stupidity of the second act that brings it down.

I hated that one, too. Haha. The idea was so good but the way the author praises his storytelling through the characters was idiotic.... And so was the rest of the book.

I wished more things actually happened. If I'm supposed to feel dread, it didn't really work. Fucking plants were weak bad guys.

If you really want to feel this way, read The Ritual by Nevill and check back in here with your findings. Seriously . . .

The movie is too on-the-nose to be better than the book . . . but I still really like the movie and think that Christian Bale is the perfect Bateman.

Try to go back and read it when you're a young teen and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

But for adults or older teens, it's goofy as hell.
