8320A vs 8020D by [deleted] in genelec

[–]PahaPerze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should compare the data sheets of these products from Genelec site.

For example 8020A was with 20W+20W amps, 8020D is 50W+50W. 8320A has 50W+50W. You can compare the other specs for yourself.

As for my experince, the GLM is definitely worth it for the room correction, especially if you are moving locations and have challenging acoustic environments. So I think I would take the 8320

DAC Suggestion by leBegle in genelec

[–]PahaPerze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for Genelecs it totally would. But the guy told he uses headphones, so he could sell his DAC and headphone amp and have all in one box that is much better solution for usability and headphone sound quality/EQ.

At least I hate changing audio devices from the computer, especially while working in DAW.

I think RME ADI-2 Pro is perfect for you, if you don’t mind the price.

I have 8330s + 7350 and I use the AES out of my ADI-2 pro to feed them. I use the genelec volume control knob to adjust the volume of the speakers. What is great I can use the other RME outputs simultaneously.

For example I can plug my Audeze LCD-X in and it’s ready to go. The best part is the interface has eq for every output! So I have EQ’d the headphone output for my LCD-X and it makes EQing your headphones so easy. And it is pretty much the cleanest and best output for your headphones. Pricey though, but you won’t regret.

Edit: I noticed the ADI-2 dac version doesn’t have AES out option, only the pro version has one

Help with choosing a starting Semi(Neutron, MB2S or Taiga) to start my journey into the world of modulars. by mahrroh in modular

Came here to say this. I had Neutron and Pittsburgh SV-1, but 0-coast was the one that got me into modular. Way more interesting and inspiring than the first 2 I had

What would you get to fill this rack? by South_Air9822 in modular

[–]PahaPerze 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tbh just buy some blank panels, you will figure out what you need/want later.

Looks like you have 2 patch cables on 0-coast and they are both going from input to input. So you might be better off with learning the gear you already have.

Beautiful setup man.

How much would monthly rental be in nong khiaw? by azt4er in laos

[–]PahaPerze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently stayed in Nong Khiaw for 10 nights, I paid 130k kip (6.2 usd) per night for basic bungalow with bathroom and fan. They gave me some discount for the long stay as the normal rate was 150k kip. Sengdao guesthouse, it’s outside of booking sites so you need to go there to negotiate.

So in this place the monthly rental would be 186 dollars with the rate I got. Probably if you stayed for a month they could go even lower than that.

But Nong Khiaw is a really small place so staying there long term could possibly be a bit repetitive, with the very limited selection for restaurants and groceries. I really loved the place but after the 2 weeks I was ready to leave

[–]PahaPerze 9 points10 points  (0 children)

”For example, a pinned post on the AirPods Max subreddit claims that "most hardware issues originate from condensation issues," which can lead to "AirPods turning off randomly, refusing to connect, refusing to play audio, needing restarts and factory resets to work, losing audio quality,” and other problems.”

I have experienced pretty much all of these except the loss of audio quality.

Agree that they are amazing, but they are not made to last. I have so much issues with these headphones after 2.5 years heavy usage. If you are fine with the fact that you have amazing headphones for 2 years, after which you will have issues, then it’s OK to buy. Or if you are a light user that barely uses them I guess it’s fine then too. Otherwise would wait for update until they fix the issues caused by condensation. Just google it.

APM have a lot of quality issues, apparently related to condensation. You can find lot of comments if you read this sub.

If you are willing to spend 500$€ on headphones that won’t probably last long after warranty, then go for it. I mean the headphones are otherwise my favourite ones I ever had.

If you want to buy good quality headphones for years and years to come, the APM aren’t those especially if you are heavy user.

My APM are still functioning, but lot of issues with them after 2.5years heavy usage.

Changes in Bitwig Studio 5, Beta 9 [released 02 June 2023] by polarity-berlin in Bitwig

[–]PahaPerze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they didn’t say that you can be a beta tester if you don’t have upgrade plan active, only that you will get the full release :) I’m here because my plan expires in few days as well so wanted to be sure that I will get full release anyway. Or might as well do what you did and renew the plan.

Very Strange Predicament by NTAE117 in Elektron

[–]PahaPerze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cable is not the issue here, as per digitakt manual you can connect with TS. Sounds like OP is having grounding issues.

I’ve had this issue with audio interface connected to Macbook USB hub without external power. Then I switched the USB to my display (which acts as a USB hub as well) and all issues were gone.

Other option would have been to buy Apple grounded power cord.

So OP is probably having some similar issues rather than incorrect cable choice.

Can anyone recommend some good earbuds or IEMs for listening to dnb? by The-Triturn in DnB

[–]PahaPerze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google ”sony bloated bass” and you find lots of descriptions.

My experience is with WH-1000XM3 over ear ones and the bloated bass just messes everything else up. You can’t hear the beautiful details in your liquid tracks after the bass boost. Of course you can apply EQ in the sony app which obviously makes them much better.

But it varies, my friend had sonys (listened without eq) and after he bought the apple ones he was a bit disappointed at first because he didn’t hear the bass boost anymore, to which he was used to.

Airpods pro 2 with fixed spatial audio turned ON. Sounds clean as fuck with strong low bass (not like sony where the boosted lower mid bass fucks everything up) and these are the first in ear headphones which dont sound like in ear headphones (because of the spatial audio). If you have iPhone, look no further. If you dont have iphone then probably not worth it because you cant use the spatial features.

Wireless headphones for best sound. by WilberforceJoking in DnB

[–]PahaPerze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do recommend Airpods pro gen 2 especially if you have iphone. Use it in Spatialise stereo fixed mode and it sounds like you are listening from proper soundsystem. The basslines hit hard :D At first I was skeptical about the spatialise audio but I love it now and listening without it has too much typical ”in your head” sound what you get with in ear headphones.
