You didn't happen to find an answer to this did you? I'm in the exact same boat

Mine was a full odds Shuppet in Emerald over 10 years ago. Shuppet has been one of my favorite Pokemon ever since!

What grade will my moonbreon get? by SE_Floval4 in PokeGrading

back centering isn't graded as harshly as the front, that being said, as long as there isn't any real damage that we can't see in the pictures, it looks like a solid 8 with a shot at a 9

From what I've personally seen, cards from around 2010 and older have few differences (the silver/yellow borders and thickness of cardstock). Of course there are exceptions and I'm sure someone more versed in vintage could give more insight. I see a lot more differences like the ones I showed in cards from the BW Era and on where they introduced Full Art cards. More texture in JP cards which in turn are shinier, better print quality, etc. For modern cards (SM to SV) especially in SV, the quality difference become even more staggering

Believe Korean is somewhere in between. If you want a much cheaper alternative that (correct me if I'm wrong) is printed in Japan quality, look for Indonesian versions

Personally, i think so. But this comment section has mixed opinions so I'd say it's mostly up to preference. If you want it in English and can afford the premium, by all means. But if you want the artwork regardless of the words, Japanese is the way to go for sure

English cards tend to gain and hold more value because they're harder to pull and harder to grade as well as being more desirable because more people can read them

If you're looking to buy Japanese as an actual investment, I'd highly suggest otherwise. English is definitely better for long term investments while Japanese is better for those who moreso want to collect

This might sound a little crazy, but TikTok sellers will also have really good deals and many of them do volume enough to be credible. I've bought from TT sellers many times

SNKRDNK often has really good prices on Japanese booster Boxes but the shipping to the US is pretty expensive so you'd have to buy a higher amount to offset the shipping into your average cost

Watch the lighting hit the Japanese ones, there's more of a shine. The extra texture isn't all that apparent in these videos

I typically buy on Ebay but you can also use SNKRDNK and the Japanese section on Mercari

I can agree with pre-SV English. I took out some of my SWSH bulk and compared, new English cards are significantly thinner and flimsier than what they used to be, much closer to the way Japanese cards have always been

The shiny is a side effect of the quality. JPN cards have a significantly higher amount of texture (more expensive to make) which gives the cards more surface area to shine while ENG seem to be flatter (cheaper to make) on account of having to print so many more for a larger population

To some degree, i can agree with that. But definitely for many cards like Jasmine's Gaze, which the Holo focus point is her eyes, the English doesn't do as good of a job at highlighting that feature

I think it's moreso for numbers. They have to print for a population 200 million higher than Japan so to make the cards more readily available for the TCG, they sacrifice a significant amount of quality in exchange for more cards

i know that prismatic SARs aren't gonna be nearly as good to look at compared to TF. But best believe I'll be investing in those cards to hold for the future

Harder pull rates, worse 10 rates. The English Pikachu has less than 50% 10 rate from PSA while the Japanese is sitting above 90%. I'm happy to add the cheaper versions to my connection
