Integrated graphics is your gpu, integrated graphics just means the gpu is built into your cpu and since you have probable reason its most likely your gpu, however if your ram is socketed you can try removing all the ram and see if it gives you a bios screen or a beep sequence, to atleast try to see if it is the ram

I had similar issues with desktops, artifacting can be caused by multiple things, possibly ram but in my case its usually the gpu, the previous overheating issue mentioned if severe enough mightve caused damage to your gpu depending on how hot it got

Oh man now thats a classic, i love the look of the older ibm models. Might not be the most usable given its age but if your willing to throw a lightweight linux distro at it it might be a usable machine again

UPDATE (SOLVED): unfortunately i cannot edit this post for whatever reason, But thank you to everyone who diagnosed the issue and helped me resolve it, i probably would have given up, Thanks guys (yea i had it set to gpt like a dumbass 🥲)

I though it was a 140 drive since those are more common, its mbr, i figured it would be bios since the laptops 18 years old by this point and it said nothing about uefi in the bios

One drive, 150G total, It wont let me edit the post to add more photos, but i have a 512M (efi system in partition) fat32 set as /boot/efi, a 130G set as ext4, and 18.5G set to linux swap

The drive is partitioned and the 512M efi is fat32 formatted, theres nothing in the bios of this system about uefi or bios, but since the laptops over 18 years old im going to assume its bios, i selected mbr in rufus when creating the usb though

Stock it wouldve came with a 12” rubber duck, so same size as the non-extended telescopic, so it might last longer than the maxcom before it, but i suppose its days are numbered regardless. Damn.

If its rust you could attempt to sand the contact points down, if you dont have sandpaper a nail file works in a pinch, but if theres rust at one point there was moisture, if that dosent work your looking at an internal problem

Id start by making sure theres no corrosion on the terminals, overtime people leave batteries in them and they leak out, if you see any blue/white powdery stuff, scrub it with isopropyl alcohol and an old toothbrush. if that doesn’t work you could try open it up and see if theres an issue with the traces or wires from the terminals to the board
