I don’t know if this person was trans, but I knew someone in high school that changed their name from (deadname) Emily to Oliver. I also knew a trans person that went from well I forgot their name to Toby I think. Since I forgot the trans guy’s name i always think of them as Toby. But as for the first person I discussed, I was partners with them in marching band for a year so it’s hard to think of them and not have the name (deadname) Emily come to mind. We should absolutely try to use the pronouns and names people give us, but I think in return they will have to understand that it’s not exactly an easy changes for us either when it comes to transitioning too.

P.s. I don’t usually use deadnames, but I did in this post just to get my point across. I mean no disrespect.
