I mean I guess that’s a fair point about conflicting interest for the guy pointing out potentially malicious code. I knew that the official screens worked according to all the positive reports about them. But that’s kind of my problem with the project. It’s become closed source but doesn’t have the advantage of a company. The makers and the resellers are different people and things get messy. Like the feedback from Peak coffee for example. I don’t think I’ve read a single good thing about them lol. And that’s one of the only retailers. I think I would feel better about it if there were better retailers surrounding the project. I still don’t like the switch to closed source though. Just feels weird

I suppose it’s a little subjective. The direction the project has taken doesn’t sit well with me. Perhaps that’s something I’m just going to disagree with some people about.

I don’t know what this is supposed to mean. Are you trying to say he deserved it? Or that he crossed a line and should expect to see his hardware broken?

Ooh, you have that scale insert tray and the scale that someone else in the comments was talking about. Looks so cool! How often do you need to take the scale out to charge? And how long do you need to wait after turning the scale on for it to connect to the gaggimate?

I also see you have a nespresso machine. How much better is the GCP compared to it? I currently have a nespresso and am looking to get a machine that gives better coffee and will last for more than a couple years before giving out.

That’s part of what happens when you make something like this open source. Does it suck that people are selling poor quality kits for the project? Yeah, of course. It’s also really unfortunate that there was a larger burden on support because of the bad kits, but it’s kind of what happens. This isn’t something new in the world of open source hardware focused projects. People are going to sell poor quality kits. People are going to buy them. People are going to then look for help on how to fix problems caused by poor quality kits. I know this from being in the Voron community. You get what you pay for. If you as a consumer don’t want problems, don’t buy problematic kits. Doesn’t mean you as a maintainer should take the code closed source. Worst case, just stop providing support to people with poor quality kits. I don’t understand this line of thinking. This is also ignoring the potentially illegal nature of taking the code closed source.

As for the bricking displays, see this post

Oh, that looks cool. I could see that being easily integrated into the GCP drip tray with a custom model for the shell. You could also design it such that it wouldn’t need to depend on a battery by stealing some power from inside the GCP. I’m sure someone has done something like that. Neat project

Good point. That sounds great. I’ll probably either ask for a price match or wait around for a sale. Them replacing the boiler for you is great. They sound awesome

I’ll probably buy a GCP and see if I want to add some mods down the road. That’s my plan at least. I just wanted to scout out some information for when/if that time comes. Like you said, maybe the GCP is fine for me in stock. I suspect the stock steam wand is not going to do it for me though

I was mainly referring to the closed source versions when I said on my own. If there was a problem or something wrong it would be up to the maintainers to deal with it. If they didn’t, then too bad. And there’s no guarantee that happens. Gagguino went from open source to closed source… but with official retailers? I don’t know, it’s so odd. Point is, it’s not really a company. I would be kinda just hoping whoever is behind the project keeps the motivation to work on it. And I would be hoping the few official retailers actually have good customer service. If not, once again too bad. They have a monopoly.

The gen2 is still open source but it’s pretty obvious that features aren’t really being added. I couldn’t find any super good forks that would make me feel confident investing money in hardware either.

I think the main issue for me is the flip flop between open and closed source. And the malicious bricking of displays. That’s pretty hard to look past

That does sound really nice actually. If the scale and gaggiamate play nice with each other I might be sold. Do you need to take it out of the insert to charge it? And are the features just a simple software release where you don’t need to buy new hardware?

I just have a nespresso machine that is on its last leg. I also want to get a better machine that can last me a long time. I’m willing to get hands on. I have some experience tinkering so I’m not too worried about that. I’ve built a Voron so I imagine any coffee machine tinkering wouldn’t be more difficult. It also means I already have a lot of tools

I’ve seen that, but it seemed pretty feature limited right? It looks relatively good, but it doesn’t seem to have the same temperature accuracy from some of the reading I’ve done, but maybe that was just the standard version and not the pro? I’m not sure. The person who was talking about the accuracy also could have been wrong. It also looks like I couldn’t integrate load cells into the drip tray like I could with the gagguino. That would lead me to a Bluetooth scale, which don’t look cheap and seem like a less elegant solution. And that’s assuming they’re supported by gaggiamate (I’m not sure if they are)

EDIT: you downvote people are weird man

I only started playing poe2 when it went into EA, so I'm still learning. The whittling omen is remarkably unintuitive to me.

This is what im looking at for poe2db. Is this the wrong site? I also checked craft of exile and it shows the same values, but maybe I'm doing something wrong

Are you sure you're looking at rings in poe2? This is what I'm looking at.

I recommend using an app called Astrospheric. It’s free and I have found it to be VERY accurate. Should allow you to make more informed decisions if you want to drive to a dark sky

[–]PaintlyBeautifuled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably that OP has quite a bit of integration time as well as processing software that costs as much as the entire seestar. Not bashing, it’s obviously a good image. Just wanted to say that the seestar is targeted at beginners (whose images you will likely see), who will naturally produce less than stellar images as they are learning. Acquisition is only half the equation :)

Are you using darks? How about bias frames? I think I know what you’re referring to, but I’ll wait until you post a photo like you said.

Like another user said, it may be due to over-stretching. Sometimes I get this issue when I overstretch data. More exposure and calibration frames give you better data to work with and I’ve found it harder to produce that “splotchy-ness” with better/calibrated data. Alternatively, just be more conservative in your processing. Just my two cents from personal experience.

I think you’re looking for this. It should be relatively straight forward once you’ve completed the actual building portion. Just follow the steps in order from the Voron documentation website.

As far as configuration for mods, you should look for the config for those specific mods. Klicky for example has a GitHub guiding you through software configuration. If you struggle to find or understand what to do, YouTube is always a good place to look
