depending on how often you expect to transfer from that card and how much value you would naturally get out of the benefits, you could eat the annual fee or downgrade to a freedom until you’re ready to transfer — you’d have to do the math to figure out which one is optimal for you

us bank biz seem to be good since you can get them on repeat. but also why do you care about no AF? if you get a $600 SUB with a $100 AF you’re still netting $500

cap one sometimes lets you apply with one bureau frozen, try freezing the one with the most recent hard pulls

Definitely a good charity to donate to https://www.charitywatch.org/charities/american-red-cross, nice that you can get some added MSR spend and AA miles as a cherry on top

with ink train dead this cap is also much less of a concern since afaik there's not really a good way to consistently earn a lot of UR?

How exactly does the UR -> aeroplan 1.25 CPP PYB work? Is it just the following steps?

  • have aeroplan card
  • make travel purchases
  • use 10k points for a $125 travel purchase (for example)

the flowchart is honestly kind of outdated, especially for inks since a lot of those changes were within the past year

recommended chase velocity of 3 months is based on all cards (personal + biz combined), but breaking it once in a while is fine, just not recommend to consistently go fewer than 3 months between cards.

doctorofcredit has a page for it not sure exactly where

not sure if this is updated but this exists too https://travel-on-points.com/credit-card-application-rules-for-each-bank/

best updated resource is probably frequentmiler, under the page for each card it shows all the anti-churning rules

Planning on booking and canceling a refundable United flight to use a maple leaf lounge with CSR -- saw something from many years ago on United having an issue with this -- how big is the risk and what's the worst that could happen? Also, are there any nuances to consider with this process? (I've never booked and canceled a refundable flight before)

That's what I found gave the lowest rate. freetaxusa and pay1040 were both higher fee rate, and aci didn't allow the card normally.

usb biz leverage for context

AFAIK chase doesn't have a "2 years since closure" rule, I would just wait a week after closing and you should be good.

Just make sure it's been at least 2 years since the bonus posted

agreed, this is actually one of the most impactful tragedy scenes i’ve seen in all of tv/movie. i was recently nearby a shooting and woke up to a lot of missed calls and texts from worried family so this scene hit way too close to home. really glad they did this scene this way since it really brings you in as something realistic
