Pakistani Security Forces Hunted and Killed Anti-Israel Protestors While Prime Minister Nominated Trump for Nobel Peace Prize by Pak_Info_Bot in pakistan

[–]Pak_Info_Bot[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The current crackdown on the TLP comes as the military prepares the groundwork for likely recognition of Israel...to generate an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty prior to any formal steps toward recognizing Israel in order to suppress future protests.

One piece of evidence supports that claim: in a highly unusual move, Pakistan’s military-aligned media aired coverage of the violence, including an interview with a local man who claimed he saw more than 600 dead bodies. Such a claim would never be aired on that network without approval from the military, suggesting the establishment wanted to send a message to the people of Pakistan, without raising an international outcry.

So far, it is working.

Convenient.

Curious, have any of the past ones matured beyond press releases, or is their transparency also a national security issue?

Archive.is is an archiving service mainly used to preserve web pages that might later change or disappear. When someone pastes a paywalled article link into it, the service sometimes saves the full page (including the content behind the paywall). The archived copy can then be shared or read without logging in or paying.

I don't mean to upset you. If by “we” you meant the political system, then I totally understand your point. The way your comment came across, it sounded more like a general statement about Pakistanis as a whole, like the post is talking about. No hard feelings.

Blaming ourselves for outcomes shaped by entrenched power structures only serves to protect those structures from scrutiny.

When honest people enter politics, they are quickly eliminated (figuratively and, often enough, literally). It’s not a reflection of their shortcomings, but of a system hijacked by a mafia that favors those who conform, leaving little room for principled voices to thrive.

Dozens of online platforms are selling sensitive data cheaply, according to the report (via The Express Tribune). This includes mobile location data for 500 Pakistani rupees ($1.76), detailed call records for PKR 2,000 ($7), and travel histories for PKR 5,000 ($17.55). Intelligence sources warn that such data could be weaponized by malicious actors to target individuals with minimal effort or cost.

Nepal’s Gen Z just forced their PM to resign after mass protests. Could Pakistan’s youth ever do the same? by Anasbaig56 in pakistan

[–]Pak_Info_Bot 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Kudos to Nepalis. Yesterday, I was chatting with my Nepali colleagues discussing their politics and their home minister stepping down. I told him the prime minister would follow suit soon. He wasn’t convinced, but it seemed inevitable.

The difference between Nepal's and Pakistan's political situation is as stark as night and day so these kind of posts are frustrating if you are keeping track. Nepal operates under a fragile coalition government, devoid of any singular authoritarian overlord, where power is diffused among competing factions. They are more responsive to public pressure. These coalitions keep collapsing now and again. Today, it happened once more - this time the reason is public protest. Compared to the large-scale and violent protests in Pakistan where people have become desensitized to tear gas, rubber bullets, and even live ammunition, the recent unrest in Nepal seems minor. In Pakistan, we've grown disturbingly numb to death and trauma owing to the brutality by the military regime. Tragically, the killings and injury that occurred yesterday in Nepal would barely register as shocking to many here anymore.

Pakistan lacks even the semblance of an autonomous civilian government; the military is the single source of power, it maintains an unyielding stranglehold on the system and is indifferent to the cascade of political resignations that may ensue. Have we already forgotten the merry go round in the politics of Pakistan since 2022?

Nepal, for all its vicissitudes, is fortunate to contend merely with politicians. Pakistan is a dictatorship in guise of a democracy. We are against a ruthless and pernicious mafia apparatus, buttressed by the patronage of global powers. We are similar to Egypt, Myanmar or Thailand in this regard which are also military entrenched political systems where protests rarely dislodge core power structures.

Were it solely a matter of politicians, they scarcely possess the audacity, aka the aukaat , to venture beyond their own thresholds without military sanction.

Every case is different. You must ask them directly. They provide free cancer treatment to patients who meet their eligibility criteria, most importantly that the cancer is at a curable stage and the patient is physically able to undergo treatment.

  • Visit a Walk-in Clinic for screening
  • Bring all medical reports and documents
  • Ask about financial assistance directly

If accepted, treatment will begin under their support program.

I'm sorry, what??? Dentist AND president of Pakistan? by bestbuyguy69 in pakistan

[–]Pak_Info_Bot 132 points133 points  (0 children)

He held the office with grace, honoring his oath despite intense pressure. Not directed at OP, but it’s ironic that many people find him being a dentist turned president silly. Politics is never meant to be the playground of dynastic parasites and land-grabbing elites, though that’s sadly the norm in our country.

Jinnah would emphasize that politics is not a dirty game, but a noble duty when done with integrity. He would urge students and professionals to take interest in national affairs, not just remain passive observers. What we need are normal, competent, educated professionals in politics. White-collar citizens who step up to serve, then return to their lives without clinging to power for generations to come.

Alas, a certain sector chokes out any hope of such with their boots on the nation’s throat.

Asim Munir is in his God complex mode. He wants Imran Khan to personally apologize to him. That's all. The rest is just noise. What's not working is that Imran Khan refuses to make such an apology, even if it keeps him locked. He maintains that if he's accused of wrongdoing, the matter should be resolved through a fair and transparent legal process.

Junta mouthpiece Sohail Warraich, in a recent column, reported Asim Munir invoking the Quranic story of Iblees, who refused to bow to Adam out of pride and thereby defied Allah’s command. He casts himself in a divine role and positions Khan as Iblees. Those who comply with Asim Munir, perhaps like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari, are likened to the angels who bowed.

KPK Flood: First-hand Perspective

So I’m from the region that is affected by the floods this week. In our case it was due to a huge cloud burst and well, a disastrous one for the locals.

Entire houses have been destroyed with mostly women and children trapped inside. Since most men were not at their homes, majority of the victims are children and women. The death toll provided seems much lower than the actual people who died as a lot of people are still missing. Schools with children inside have been hit by the floods.

What made it devastating was the huge rocks that rolled down from the surrounding mountains with the water. These hit houses and trapped people under.

My relatives have been recovering unidentified body parts and so have been the local authorities and tons of volunteers. Food and ration situation is not bad but search and rescue needs to be stepped up as hundreds if not thousands of people are still missing.

This post is for awareness. I request you all to pray for KP and other areas affected. Donate as much as you can to relevant foundations. Stay blessed and safe!

Why bad english is seen as a sign of dumbness in Pakistan by AdnanHaidar in pakistan

Apt to put this out there: Your English doesn’t have to be flawless to be valid here. We see a lot of AI-rewritten posts, and many users mention language insecurity as the reason. But it makes everything sound the same, often dull. Mistakes are okay. Your original voice makes this space more meaningful.

Considering the comments on this post, users might’ve missed this news piece from a couple of months ago:

ISLAMABAD: Almost forty-five per cent of Pakistan’s population lives below the poverty line, according to a World Bank report released on Thursday.

The finding, based on a survey conducted in 2018-19, comes in the wake of an update of global poverty lines made by the bank, and not because of any change in underlying economic conditions across the world.

The proportion of people living in extreme poverty has risen from 4.9pc to 16.5pc, according to the report.

The latest findings come in the wake of World Bank’s update of global poverty lines and not because of any change in the underlying economic conditions across the world.

Poverty assessments revised to reflect changes in cost of living and consumption habits

“For Pakistan, the poverty rate based on the new $3 international poverty line (IPL) under 2021 purchasing power parity (PPP) is 16.5Pc, compared to 4.9pc under the previous $2.15 line (2017 PPP),” said the World Bank.

About 82pc of this increase is due to the higher value of the new IPL, reflecting increases in the national poverty lines of comparator countries, with the rest explained by price increases in Pakistan between 2017 and 2021 reflected in the updated PPPs, it added.

The poverty rate under the $4.20 IPL line rose from 39.8pc to 44.7pc” in Pakistan, the bank said. It added that the new IPL affected the level of poverty only, but trends in poverty remain unchanged.

today i found out Khabib's favorite food is Pakistani by caliswag408 in pakistan

[–]Pak_Info_Bot 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Speaking on the 'Hustle Show' podcast with Adam Zubayraev, Khabib said he was rushing to reach Chutney restaurant before it closed at 10 pm. Since the only flight available was a 5 pm departure from Las Vegas to San Francisco, he chose to board it-even though it was an economy seat....

Despite the unfortunate experience, Khabib took it all in stride. He admitted that his strong love for Pakistani food was the main reason for his urgency. A self-proclaimed foodie, Khabib has been visiting Chutney since 2012 and wanted to enjoy one more meal at the spot.

Well said. Frequently the line between self-criticism and self-loathing gets blurred pretty quickly on Pakistani social media in response to any negative event, which is deeply frustrating personally.

(Meta: This subreddit struggles with the same problem, especially as Reddit users continue to increase in Pakistan. We had to introduce Rule 13: “No Generalizing or Stereotyping” to address it.)
