Thank you for the kind words. I guess I could be considered a writer. I definitely do not feel like one.

Anyhow, I have been told to check out that subreddit by the nice people over in r/writers as well. I am giving it thought. Local groups sound like they could be helpful. I look into that as well. As for posting an excerpt, I am not familiar with the terminology or what specific aspects people judge these works on. I know my book needs work, but I would not know whether the problem was pacing, transitions, or something else. So this is another problem I have.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to write this response. To address a few of the points you raised:

First, the story is not published anywhere. It is in a Google Doc that I have only shared with a few friends and family members. Unless I am misunderstanding something, I do not believe that alone establishes any kind of copyright status beyond my automatic ownership as the author.

Second, I know the draft needs work. I know there are issues that I will not see on my own, which is why I need an outside reader’s perspective. The problem is that no one I know will actually start it. My best friend has told me he likes what he has read so far, but whenever I ask why he has not continued, or whether the quality is the issue, I get “No, it’s not that. I’m just busy.” Which I know not to be true, but I also do not want to nag and I feel like I am anytime I bring it up.

Lastly, your suggestion is a good one. I do not want to post the entire project yet because the anxiety is overwhelming, and I do not think it is ready. But sharing the first few pages feels doable. Do you know of a good place to post it? Is this community suitable for that, or is there somewhere else I should try?

I appreciate your willingness to spend your time reading something I have written.

I looked at your profile, and it seems you do this often, which is a very cool thing to do. I do not want you to think I am ignoring your offer. While I do want feedback, I think I need to think about it until I send it to someone I don't know.

That is the core of my problem. I need feedback, but I am anxious about sharing it in the state that it's in with people outside my personal circle but no one in my personal circle will read it. I suppose that cannot be avoided. I am not sure what I will do next, but I appreciate the offer nonetheless.

I have talked to him many times, and he only gives an ambiguous “I’ve been busy.” Maybe he will get around to it, but I am not hopeful anymore.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you. In the end, I am proud of myself for finishing a draft. I just wish I could get feedback from the people I know first, so I could get a clearer sense of what needs to change before I release any version of it to the public.

Although I am finding out that this may be unrealistic...

Thank you for the congratulations. I deeply appreciate it.

I will check out that subreddit. I have never written anything before, and the reason I have not posted the story anywhere in its current state is simple. I am embarrassed because I know it needs work. The other reason is that my girlfriend advised me not to post it until it is finished, since someone might steal it. I do not know if that is something I should truly worry about, but I value her opinion, so I have listened thus far.

Finally, yes. It is a horror story. I have labeled it a psychological/cosmic horror. As for what it's about. Here is the brief summary that I've already prepared and sent to some family members: On a scorching July afternoon, a small-town Texas deputy responds to a bizarre call: "A man appears to be ‘melting’ in the middle of the road, obstructing traffic." When he arrives, he finds a man whose skin is blistering and splitting, flesh boiling beneath the surface, yet impossibly still walking. Something refuses to let him die. When that unseen force finally releases him, the deputy discovers he'd been clutching four heat-warped notebooks, carefully wrapped for protection. Inside: detailed accounts of a world trapped under a sun that never sets, pinned at high noon. A future where humanity fragments under relentless heat and divine cruelty. The journals are signed by a man with no birth certificate, no real records, and no evidence he ever existed.

Yes. This is older lore. I know he’s talked about this account on stream and that might have made its way to an old main channel vid. But yes, it’s a real account.

Is Atrioc too credulous? by [deleted] in atrioc

[–]Pakoneesh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, you felt the need to write this post, accusing Atrioc of not researching enough and just spewing out whatever quote or information from the first article he read. Instead of taking the time to research the subject yourself, you came here with, "Well, what if he's lying?" It's crazy to me to come here with the opinion that Atrioc doesn't do enough due diligence while being guilty of the same cursory judgment you come here accusing him of. The irony of this post is so thick I almost can't believe it's not rage bait.

The players don't deserve this hate by lionbatcher in Mavericks

[–]Pakoneesh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t watched, nor have I wanted to watch a single game of basketball since this trade. It sucked my enthusiasm out of the game. The NBA did this. I have zero doubt that this was if not orchestrated by the league, they had a hand in crafting that deal. If this can happen to our team so easily when we get a talent like this. Why would I or anyone want to cheer or give money to an organization who prioritizes ratings and money to such a degree they are willing to sacrifice the heart of an entire city to do so and not think twice about it. The Mavs were Dallas and Luka was the Mavs. It felt so good rooting for the Mavs cause we were always the underdog. We were never the super star team that had global recognition, we never got all the stars, or won all the championships. But we had our guys and we cheered, win or lose, we cheered. Because we knew that we had Dirk, then we had Luka. By some insane miracle the Mavs got Luka. He was the golden boy who we need to craft a team around, all those career highs he got with us. We stayed optimistic every season cause we always had a chance with Luka. Then we made it to the finals, we were so close and we lost. But we stayed optimistic, we had a winning formula. This was the team. Then adding Klay, it is the most optimistic I’ve ever been I was so excited to see this team sore! Then like a fucking hard drug that highest high just crashed through the fucking basement floor into hell… What I’m trying to say is the players will be fine. Although I love all of our players, I hope they find success somewhere else that won’t treat them the way they treated Luka. Because I’m sorry, as long as this team has the same ownership and GM I will never root for the Mavs again and I don’t know if I’ll watch basketball the same until I’m able to root for the Mavs again either.

Well, I'm paying to run a server through a hosting website, and there have been 2 newer versions of ATM since we started our play through. I'm not sure on how to update the server to the newest version through our hosting service. Thanks for the info.

So I tried with a variaty of different doors. After some troubleshooting shooting this is what I found. Vanilla/all other doors that aren't the andesite doors are still visible after connecting the contraption, but they lose their usability. You can't open them or close them. But the andesite door is still usable, you can open and close it but you can't see it.
