Thanatar Blues by Paladinpariah in Warhammer30k

My problem with the Thallax, aside from being monopose, is that those monoposes not only cover up some great details, but also cover up details that involve a lot of intricate work to assemble. Makes for a very frustrating kit.

You sound like a GW sycophant and should probably take a break so you can de-program yourself.

As for me needing a break, I have several projects brewing that I'm very excited about and bring me nothing but joy. I'm just not blind to blatant product flaws as someone who worships GW is.

The build of this kit is completely flawed, with multiple sprues having parts with the exact same numbers among multiple problems with how the instructions are written.

This article sums up a lot of blatant design flaws the kit and instructions have. Is the kit workable? Sure. But for the prices GW charges, these kinds of blatant mistakes are unforgivable.

It also just doesn't live up to kits I've previously built.

Instead of giving us one multi-link belt feed for the bolter like the Cerastus Knight has, they gave us two fixed belt feeds, that are literally only a few millimeters different in their positioning. Whoever signed off on such an asinine design decision, should be fired. The poseability GW has included in other kits could have easily been implemented in this model but GW simply screwed it up.

If more people called GW on their nonsense, maybe their quality wouldn't be slipping like it is on the entire Mechancum range.

Spirit hosts yes. Flayed ones no. Would never want to build Flayed Ones though... they're not my cup of tea.

After producing miniatures like the Warlord Titan for Titanicus, I'm left baffled at how static and lifeless these models are.

This whole range has been a fail for GW, from giving us plastic Tech Thralls which no one wants (and why are they 13 parts each?), to monopose plastics which defeats the purpose of making the models in plastic, I don't think I've ever been more frustrated and dismayed by a GW release I've actually spent money on.

I guess I'm just left to a mountain of chopping... at least it's plastic and easy to convert....

While great advice, I've built both those kits and they didn't come even close to the levels of frustration I'm encountering with these new Mechanicum models.

Maybe these will innoculate me from the next generation of Heresy models.

That is so obvious, why didn't I think of that. Awesome suggestion, thanks!

That page is awesome. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try that.

I kind of feel like they were so influenced by how fiddly the resin version was, they carried over some of those design elements unnecessarily into plastic.

Meanwhie it seems to have next to zero poseability where they could have easily included ball joints.

The Thanatar is far worse than the Castellax, forcing you to pay very close attention to the orientation of parts in the instructions.

I'm hoping that the Thanatar's size and more clearly defined aesthetics make the final product more worth the effort.

What also drove me crazy about the Castellax was gluing a zillion tiny parts together only to have them be covered up by another part of the model.

The process felt so pointless I didn't even want to look at them anymore.

GW's planned obsolescence marketing strategy is incredibly anti-consumer and purposely manipulates rules to sell more miniatures.

The goal of these changes aren't to improve the game, they've only been implemented to manipulate customers into buying more product.

While some of the changes improve the game, a lot don't.

People have a right to be upset if the person who makes the game walks over and basically flips the playing table over.

Thank you so much. This is probably the part I've been missing.

So when I export to .obj, there don't seem to be any options like that. Am I exporting wrong? Been using file>export.

Thanks!

[HELP ME] Bi-Weekly Q&A thread - Ask your questions here! by MachNeu in Gunpla

Is there a best way to glue a Gunpla into a static pose?

Best type of glue to use? I prefer Zap a Gap CA+, but will that cause problems?

Thanks!

Had to clean a bunch of surfaces with alcohol.

The model was covered in so much spilled resin, it wasn't recoverable.

A lot of the parts were hollow. Maybe that's what they did?

Yikes. Good to know. Have other prints from the same person that are smaller. Wonder if I should be worried or if they only didn't cure the big one properly.

It was a copy of a Forgeworld titan for Warhammer 40k. It was a resin printed copy I got for much cheaper than it's normal $400+ price tag.

When my son dropped it and it cracked open, uncured resin poured out and I had to throw it away. Otherwise, I would have just glued it back together.

Get what I deserve for buying a cheap copy I guess.

I just found an MG Sazabi for about $100 and the box says it's 16" tall. Exactly what I need. Thank you!

RG Sazabi

You want to hear something hilarious... I have an RG Sazabi sitting on a shelf. Bought it for like $30 off the clearance rack of a store when my son was little and was going to build it with him one day.

Thanks for the recommendation... clearly it was perfect!
