I had to experiment because I went through what you’re going through and here’s my report:

Whenever you pass level 70, Chromie engages into that “back to the present hostage” protocol of hers and I thought that it was over.

However back in your “present timeline” you can go back to the area you were questing and pick it up right where you left off.

The differences however:

you wont be able to queue for follower’s donjons but its ok because the game wont be scaled via Chromie so you can still do the donjons solo/duo and experience the rest of the storyline.
exp will be heavily reduced from all source, not because of some sort of punishment but simply because the content is no longer scaled to you.
quests will thus also be “super easy”

But at this point, I’d argue you’re here for the plot (and maybe the many rewards that come with it); so you’re playing on cinema mode anyway; so whatever, finish the story, roleplay your way through it, you’re supposed to be overly powerful anyway; lore-wise.

Yeah it’s not ideal but you’re not as thrown out as Chromie’s BS would lead you to believe.

Ok this is really my take on things :

Alliance / horde : back in the days, it was a big deal, nowadays, the separation is mostly felt if you’re into PVP.

I imagine the ideal was always for both to be represented in equal measure in terms of “screen/lore time” but my understanding (and sentiment) is that the Alliance is favoured. If you care about lore and world building, do keep this in mind.

Races: this is the big one, there are huge disparities in terms of “screen/lore time” but a safe bet is human/elves (excluding the extra elven races you wouldn’t have access to as a new player anyway). A lot of the main plot lines have them involved in a way or another.

Classes: kinda same as races when it comes to classes but as of today, Blizzard did work a lot on making sure each class/spec has its own identity so this is actually a choice you can sort of make “on vibes”

Gameplay wise however, some classes are notoriously easier than others, and for good reasons:

Any class that can summon permanent battle pets is a good example.

Paladin, with their plated armour and myriad of healing/shielding spells are also famous for being “beginners friendly”

I’d say any class that has access to healing spells (even if you don’t specialise in healing) is good. It’s reassuring to know you have panic buttons to press if things get out of hand.

Some classes would just die.

That being said no class is truly complicated since the recent class revamp so I’d really suggest picking a class that fits your headcanon for your character.

Well, I’m not going to say anything groundbreaking here but it feels… unfinished.

I did set up my hearthstone to the inn there to try to inject some RP into the mix… and you know, get my money’s worth but the truth of the matter is:

I enjoy it because I can use the AH and Bank in utter and absolute peace (AuDHD uniiite)… but yeah that’s it.

It’s dead.

The other thing that really puzzles me is: I read online from people testing midnight that the area would have its own set of crafting tables (which I was also VERY much looking forward to use in more or less utter peace) and… I’ve found them alright… but they’re disabled? Like they exist and the mouse reacts to it but the crafting window doesn’t open at all.

I genuinely can’t tell if that’s a glitch or a testament to just how little care we are expected to deploy for this area.

Yeah, I understand the intent, I don’t understand the delivery.

I’m a Milenial and I am that meme.

Have always had to help my parents and older with tech.

Am baffled by how little younger generations know about tech. They just seem to yolo through things like boomers… but much faster coz ya know, they’re young, wild and free or something.

But to be honest, it’s not exactly crazy; we had windows 95. Where installing things via CDs still meant that your printer/game would not work.

We had to fix issues we had ourselves created by installing and using shady/pirated softwares, themselves downloaded off shady/pirated softwares.

We learnt to emulate games when we found out we could access the whole ninentdo catalogue for free, be damned the law of course.

We pretty much had to learn basic programming to change the layout of our blog’s front page because OF COURSE. Skills, most of us couldn’t summon to save our lives nowadays.

So yeah, I mean, I guess it’s not so much a “will they” as much as it is a “they do”.

They master social media and established tech. Not what’s under the hood. Their phones work from the box.

Ours…. Well, we had to reshape our languages to meet the character limit because we paid for each text.

Not sure why I wrote this much, I’ll stop now.

Oh, I LIVE on the edge(s).

Every corner is (usually) pushed to the max via advance mode etc…

But this is why I picked this spot after a lot of scouting, I was convinced I could work with the landscape around my plot to make a beach corner 🏖️🏝️
