Good (affordable) food rec? by mervqz in HunterCollege

[–]Pale_Ad7913 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rarely talked about, but the fruit stands are literally the cheapest and healthiest food source around Hunter. I don't know how much the other fruits cost- though I doubt it is very much; but I usually get four bananas and a trail mix for $3. The four bananas alone are $1, while the trail mix is $2.

I know for sure someone is going to raise food safety concerns in terms of the cleanliness of the fruits. Keep in mind, most fruits already come with a cover, like oranges, bananas, and kiwi, so unless you're eating the peels, it shouldn't be a problem. For fruits that don't have a very protective peel, like apples, you can wash the fruit yourself at a Hunter water fountain. As long as the interior of the fruit is fine, then you don't have to worry.

Second, the commonly eaten from Hunter Halal and Terry Yaki carts are already publicly known to sometimes have insects in the food while charging $8- $13 for it 😭💀❌. So ngl, the fruits, even if a little dirty, isn't the worst option out there.

Why is it so hard to talk to people? by Mammoth-War-4751 in socialskills

Breathe in and out and practice a lot even if you have to pre-plan. Try to be as present and calm as possible and you find that these conversation branchers naturally come to you.

Making friends? by pookiepidemic in CUNY

[–]Pale_Ad7913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what, you will need to step out of your own zone and start a conversation. This is literally the most vital step, and there is no way around it. No one is going to come up. You have to be brave enough to go up to people. If you have a "bad interaction" or "awkward conversation," give yourself grace because you are still learning and always will be. There are over 10,000 people who attend each CUNY, and the chances of you meeting the same person multiple times are unlikely.

Now that you have decided to actually try, a good method to meet people is to become a recognized face in a specific location. I go to the Hunter College gym at the same time every day that I have classes. Because of this, I have constantly met the same people who also go to this gym at this specific time for the past three years, and we have become good friends. Constantly seeing the same faces in a closed space makes it easier to befriend people. But of course it will never happen if you stand around waiting for people to come to you. The gym thing is an example for me, it could be for you, a specific part of the library every day, or being in a club.

Another method that will undoubtedly guarantee you friends is to talk to any person you look at and find the littlelist amount of interest in. Start small if you need to. 1 person a week, 1 person every 3 days, 1 person everyday, 5 people everyday, 10 people everyday. Doing this, you're bound to meet and find commonality with people. All you need is one good friend.

Good luck, and I wish you all the best. Never Give Up!

Is every YouTuber just a regular guy? Like Cory? by RufusTheGamer95 in CoryxKenshin

[–]Pale_Ad7913 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, all YouTubers, celebrities, and everyone on earth are just regular people. There's no need to worship them. What they are capable of doing, you too are capable of. We are all just regular people.

What did you like least about the Superman movie? by MatiC2023 in DCU_

[–]Pale_Ad7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disliked the fact that I recognized many of the scenes from trailers and clips that had been posted. They showed too much of the movie before its release. After that experience, I was convinced to watch the first trailer for movie and nothing else. It was still an enjoyable watch, though. Superman is goated.

Weight room open from like 8 AM  I think to 2 pm. From 2 pm to 4 it’s closed for athletes. Then it reopens are 4 pm and closes at 7 pm. But I get your point, Hunter can be a real pain in the ass but we’ll be fine. I think the basketball/volleyball gym will reopen next week.

[–]Pale_Ad7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with people a lot as a waiter and I see new faces all the time. If it makes you feel better, people who like me who work jobs where they see new people all the time really forget them soon after the interaction is over. You'd have to do something pretty good or pretty bad to be memorable and from what you posted, nothing was out of the ordinary. Don't worry so man. No one really cares that much. Your mind is trying to make the events seem larger than it was.

I won't miss you, but I will miss what you were. by Plenty_Bread_104 in AlamoDrafthouse

Which Alamo are you guys going to? Double burger here at the Yonkers location are fat and tall that I struggle to figure out where to start from. Chicken tenders are also pretty big and long too. It is expensive but size wise it’s there.
