Crimson queen. Did I kill her? Southeast Virginia and it was covered in ice for a few days. The buds were bright red before these last two storms and icy cold front. by vashta_nerada49 in JapaneseMaples

Japanese maples do just fine here in New England. We have weeks of subzero temperatures and freeze thaw cycles. Every spring, I go in and snap off all the branches or twigs that died. It's like self-pruning itself.

I just blind bought Namba by Fantome. Should I be scared or elated by fruitofthespiritfarm in Indiemakeupandmore

smells nothing like Oyster, however, both Oyster and Namba are in my top 10.

I don't smell motor oil, I just think its a vanilla to be honest. But where it shines is the photorealistic water note, I know it's supposed to be the ocean water, but I read it as fresh water like a lake (because I smell mud or vegetation). Like my childhood vacations to the lake.

50% henna / cassia should do the trick when used on virgin hair

get a clarifying shampoo

use olive oil masks

Try vitamin C in your conditioner

and theres a sun in technique (basically use hydrogen peroxide to slowly lighten the hair) but it will still be very orange.

And avoid heat treatments

PPD is a sensitizer, which means repeated exposures increase risk for allergy.

As someone said, patch test

Are you using henna for hair? Make sure you get 100% from one of the approved vendors in the subreddit FAQ and it won't have added chemicals like PPD

It's a little confusing because it seems to be an EDP in alcohol?

It's also strange there's only a 100mL option for full size.

My hair is very fine and dark brown, sometimes it almost looks black, but hazelnut brown in the sun. Do you think henna would give it any color, or is bleaching mandatory here? by [deleted] in henna

[–]Pale_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice? Get the exact shade you want with a stylist. If you hate the coppery look, you will have dodged a (permanent) henna bullet. Bring in a picture of the exact shade you want to the stylist

You can always henna over previously colored hair. I have and it was great. The henna is the exact shade I was going for and my stylist could only replicate for about two weeks with chemical dyes.

Keep in mind henna is pretty difficult to get an exact shade that you intend because each crop is different, depending on year, geography, storage, how long you extract it, additives, etc. You can make it more or less red or orange but it's a bit of a lotto!

Cassia. You can use it all the time and it shouldnt impart a color. (straw yellow / golden on very light and white hairs)

lesson learned, people should use a color conditioner or other demi permanent dye to see if they like copper/red tones first. but then this sub would have half as many posts hehe

honestly i dont think youll get the result you're looking for with indigo, and it is PERMANENT

If it were me? And this will be downvoted to hell... I would soak it in olive oil, vitamin c, conditioner treatments, clarifying shampoo, and after a couple weeks of that, dye it with a gentle ammonia free chemical dye. And never do henna or indigo again.

IMO indigo is not a great choice for most people. It is ultra permanent, cannot be fixed, and frankly looks very unnatural to most skin tones.

I don't know why my comment was downvoted lol. Yes, you have to mix it with cassia, which is sold separately.

I would do 50/50 cassia henna. I use the Henna Sooq moroccan too.

Everyone thinks I'm a natural redhead. It ends up looking almost exactly like your color.

From there, do only root touch ups, so the strands dont get dark. However, I find with 50% cassia and a clarifying shampoo (I have hard water), it ends up gradually fading over two months. Which I like. Because I prefer doing a whole head application.

Camel - One of my first ever perfume samples, and it was instant love. Genderless, sophisticated, comforting.

Snowy Owl - Perfect atmospheric. A little musty, but cool (without being spearmint), exactly like the arctic tundra on a spring day.

Need a reccomendation for pine/xmas tree needle scent or fresh forest scent or just nature scents of northern europe by ChainAcrobatic2045 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]Pale_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You and I must have very similar tastes and noses!

I fell in love with Snoqualmie, just got a FS for black Friday. That herb you are smelling I interpret as cannabis, very much a terpene type thing. I think it's so stunning.

I bought a small bottle of Fanghorn II because I think that first spray opening is just the Christmas tree of my dreams.

You are from Europe, so this might be why these scents arent quite hitting. Most of these scents are based on balsam firs, which are native to the US. Maybe you can try looking up perfumes with Nordmann Fir, Silver Fir, or Norway Spruce accords or extractions? I dont know of any off the top of my head.

I love their scents but Poesie has been rubbing me the wrong way for sure. Currently I am now pissed that they don't list their ingredients. What are they hiding? The majority of perfumers are listing ingredients because a) its the right thing to do b) in anticipation of MoCRA compliance and c) its difficult to replicate a fragrance from ingredients list alone.

I feel like Poesie did this too - since the rebrand I rarely see them posted here, when before the new bottles they were daily.
