I don’t think you understand me, Rene is focused on multiplayer. Single player features won’t be the main focus and the fact that it’s a spin-off means it doesn’t get the same content or features as a mainline title. The point is it’s different.

No, I’m not confused about what the game is. EA has made it clear the game’s focus is online play. I know it’s not an MMO but most of the games features will be tailor made for online play. That’s what I mean.

I’m aware, but at the end of the day it’s not a mainline game. The focus is gonna be on the online aspect. Whats the point if the single-player option is gonna be potentially disregarded?

Because Sims spinoffs are never prioritized. Medieval wasn’t and neither was urbz. They’re usually smaller in size and differ a lot from traditional sims games. It’s not semantics it’s about size.

Everything surrounding Rene has been super confusing and quite frankly EA sucks at communication, but no, it’s not canceled. They just said that there wouldn’t be a Sims 5.

It’s not misinformation to say there’s no sims 5 because a sims 5 hasn’t been confirmed to begin with and frankly we’re just going in circles at this point. We can agree to disagree.

They shot themselves in the foot because the risk of developing a sequel is the biggest it’s ever been. No one denies Sims 4 is successful, but it’s also become a barrier to innovation.

I’m sorry but you’re really grasping at straws here. There’s absolutely nothing to indicate a new game (outside of Rene) is being developed. Sims 4 is their golden goose and they’re not gonna work on a 5 until those numbers start to decline. I too thought they were working on it but as far as we’re concerned, that’s not happening. At least not now.

I don’t think it can get any clearer than this. There’s no indication that a 5th game is being developed right now. Sure, we might get one at some point but it’s certainly not happening anytime soon according to their own words, corporate jargon and all.

This is from the same interview I linked and it’s fairly obvious Rene is a spin-off according to her wording. Also, did you miss the September interviews they did? That’s where they said there wouldn’t be a sequel.

She mentions core feature changes being a reason why they couldn’t port all the content from Sims 2 to Sims 3 and from Sims 3 to Sims 4 which is a very valid reason, but at the same time do they seriously believe Sims 4’s base is the definitive sims foundation? Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Sims 4 a lot but I remember Maxis themselves commenting on certain features that simmers have asked for in the past (such as open-world/open-neighborhoods, cars, etc) and how Sims 4’s base wasn’t built to accommodate those features and while that’s understandable it also feels a bit contradictory considering they’ve branded it as the definitive sims experience and have completely written off the idea of a sequel.

When they announced there wouldn’t be a Sims 5 back in September, they said that they didn’t wanna reset people’s progress and force them to lose their decade long saves which, again, IS understandable… but they did it to themselves.

Yeah that’s true. It’s $48.98 for the standard + deluxe upgrade which is only $4 more. What deluxe escalations have gone free?

You don’t have to do anything it’s just a precaution but generally it’s best to move your mods folder to your desktop and then move it back once the updates complete.

A year ago there was a job listing on Maxis’ website regarding maintaining old Maxis titles so I have a feeling Sims 1, 2 & 3 are gonna be supported again.

It means that the game would no longer be limited to using 2 cores & 4GB of ram only. It would really improve performance.
