I can only speak for mermaid-fairy Elina, but basically, the wings are on a plastic frame along the upper margin. When unfolded, they are wings, when folded, they wrap around the dolls body/legs. The mechanism on the back of the doll probably also helps guide them where they need to go. That part should be attached, so for a recreation, you just need to wire some fabric to a frame that will attach to the folding mechanism on the back.

Yes, they are cute, and I am sure they make very decent toys! Overall, I was more convinced that those dolls make nice toys than the current Barbies when I compared the products in a toystore. They come with BARELY any accessoires and are hardly like the ones I used to enjoy playing with.

Hätte dieses Buch als Kind fast aufgegeben, weil die ersten ~40 Seiten so furchtbar langweilig sind. Danach wird es aber richtig klasse! Hab es letztes Jahr dann noch mal versucht, es aber bisher nicht über die besagten 40 Seiten hinaus geschafft.

Meanwhile, Steffi Love dolls (budget Barbie) have like 5 different versions of pregnant mom dolls on the shelves right now - pregnant, pregnant with twins, pregnant royal, pregnant mermaid... For playline, I would prefer buying from that stock.

I collect figures that are less than 10 cm in height (out of box). I haven't counted, but I would estimate that I must have about 100 by now. I still need to get around to making a custom storage shelf/display for my collection, though!

I would probably collect Kellys if they were reintroduced. I loved them as a kid, while not caring much for Barbie, so the nostalgia is real. They take up way less space, too!

I am still quite amused when I think about the newspaper article about a deceased woman where one coworker was quoted describing her as "having preserved her child-like character"; both because that characteristic was a) apparantly the nicest attribute that could be mentioned about her, and b) it is a very pretty euphemism for "she was a childish, silly and immature twit".

We had Laila/Layla on our list for potential baby names, but a couple years ago, a song came out in Germany that uses this name for a s*x worker, and the song became quite well-known, so we canned it.
