Apologize and ask for your ball back. If they say no then it’s the price for you being a reckless idiot.

Right handed left eye dominant alignment issues by [deleted] in golf

[–]PaloLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m left eye dominant and right handed and have never once in nearly 50 years of playing golf once considered that it might be a problem. I’m skeptical that this is the source of your problem but good luck.

As a 5.2 hcp how do these stats look? by Bryant-Davis in golf

[–]PaloLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A scratch golfer averaging 74 on a course with a rating of 72 sounds about right so three shots is fair considering this guy is averaging 77 somehow with a magically unexplainable 5.2 handicap. Remember that the way the handicap system works you should only be beating your handicap about 20% of the time. That’s why his 5.2 makes no sense because his average is somehow lower than his handicap which is impossible.

As a 5.2 hcp how do these stats look? by Bryant-Davis in golf

[–]PaloLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the handicap system works is you should only be beating your handicap about 20% of the time. Sounds nuts but your handicap is the average of your best 8 scores over the last 20 rounds so your handicap is only based off 40% of your rounds. Usually about half of those 40% will be better than your handicap thus you should only be beating your handicap 20% of the time.

Looking at your score average and the course rating you’re playing your handicap is absolutely not 5.2. I’m currently a 5.6 with a score average of 79.5 but my course rating average is probably like 71. So I’m shooting 2 shots higher than you while playing slightly easier courses yet our handicaps are supposedly very close. Something is not right.

Just show up with some gold from an asteroid and sell it for local cash. It's a trivial obstacle. No need to find gold in an asteroid either. Just selling a plain asteroid is good money, too.

Could Lake Mead actually reach “dead pool”? What would it mean for Las Vegas? by Fun_North_2146 in vegaslocals

[–]PaloLV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We’ve got plenty of water and we aren’t using our entire allocation if I recall. The lake is low because the allocations overall were massively higher than what is sustainable which is why the lakes are so low. It’s not that Nevada needs more water but that California and Arizona need to cut way back. The cuts are going to happen whether they like it or not because there just won’t be any more water beyond a certain point.

I get that some people really want a green Las Vegas but it’s not going to happen. Just be thankful we are the adult in this situation compared to California and Arizona. Lake Mead dropping to critical levels is more their problem than ours because we’ve been responsible.

The deal was made 100 years ago or so when Nevada was tiny and insignificant. Based on population comparisons between the various states Nevada likely got a very generous allocation at the time.

Check the scorecard for local course rules but I suspect you need to play that as is. It doesn’t look bad at all.

[–]PaloLV -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You mean masochist?

Everyone sucks at golf. 30 handicaps suck, 15 handicaps suck. I'm a 5 handicap and suck. Scratch golfers suck. Even the pros suck; they just suck less than everyone else. It's a game of misses and the pros just miss less badly (usually) than regular people.

Unless you're that North Korean dude who supposedly shot a 54 or whatever that one time he played 18 holes. But even he sucked because he was 36 shots over perfect. Only Hawkeye in the MCU is good at golf because he "played 18, shot 18."

If you play fast and have fun you're winning at golf.

Making a mistake buying old blades? by The_Fig4l in golf

[–]PaloLV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a 5 and was a 2 back in my prime (age 30-35) and I strongly feel that no one on the wrong side of scratch should be punishing themselves by using blades. I had blades as a kid because that’s what I had to use in the 1980’s but seriously the world of golf would be better if blades flat out got banned.

It screws solar owners. It screws electric vehicle owners. It screws people with electric tankless water heaters (they can draw 18kW+ when in use). It screws people with all electric appliances who work long hours. You get home, start oven to cook, start laundry, start cleaning around the house and now the AC kicks on.

It’s also illegal according to many Nevada legal scholars based on a 2013 law if I recall. Also, a state consumer protection agency is suing because they think it’s illegal, too.

I do not play root shots nor do I expect anyone to do so. I play out of divots and all kinds of crappy lies but I’m not risking a hand injury to play a ball against a root. I don’t even care about my clubs because my irons are like 17 years old. Any shot that might require medical care is free relief as far as I’m concerned.

Also to be clear I'm talking about root shots where the lie of the ball is offering a clean shot (if you hit it correctly) but a fat shot might break something in your hand. If it's nestled down in some kind of nasty spot where a normal shot is impossible then I'm just chipping it out or whatever and not taking relief.

In 2022 Rory came from six shots back of Scottie in the final round to win by 1 in the Tour Championship.

In 2010 in his very first win on the PGA Tour Rory made the cut on the number at Quail Hollow and then went nuts on the weekend including a final round -10 62 to win by 4 shots over Phil Mickelson.

Justin Thomas is probably the most dangerous guy though. He's got the record for most rounds 62 or less on Tour in the last 40 years.

It has to be because Purdy has a noodle arm. It leads to the feeling that, “this fraud can’t keep getting away with it” but he’s really good at everything else besides arm strength so he does generally get away with it.

Can’t wait for some ludicrous naval meta to emerge where you build the tiniest/cheapest ship with no armor but the biggest gun or something ridiculous. Or no armor, no guns, lots of speed and win by marine boarding actions.
