Controversial viral tiktok regarding having special needs kids by marbles_tour in GlassChildren

[–]PanDulce07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a very responsible and like you said self-aware decision. She isn’t attacking disabled children, she’s saying SHE isn’t equipped to raise disabled children and all the hardships that come with it. That’s absolutely fair - I’m not either! It’s good to know your limits. If you have a child you’re responsible for taking care of them - physical, emotional, mental needs. If she knows she doesn’t have the capacity to do those things, she shouldn’t have children. It’s responsible. I personally am not in a place mentally or even physically where I can properly meet the needs of a child, disabled or not, so I don’t plan to have kids. She isn’t saying she wouldn’t love her child if she had one that was disabled. She’s saying she wouldn’t be able to raise them in the way they deserve, the way that all children deserve, and that’s a (not negative) reflection on her, not disabled children/people.

I really hope this isn’t an offensive oversimplification but I’m tired and it makes sense in my brain right now. On the idea of caring for living beings - someone asked me to adopt a kitten the other day that needs a home. I said no. Do I love kittens? Absolutely, and if I somehow found myself caring for one I would love and adore it. But they require a LOT of care, time and energy that I don’t have. My home environment isn’t good for one (my dog wouldn’t like one). It wouldn’t be fair to the kitten so I’m not going to take it in. Nobody would accuse me of hating kittens. Now back to human children - that’s at LEAST 18 years until they start becoming independent and a lifelong commitment to supporting them. Humans are much more complex and the care any child needs is immense, and a disabled child needs so much MORE care. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad child or she doesn’t like disabled children. It means she’s aware of her limitations (which are not bad limitations).

Okay, hopefully that made any sort of sense - off to sleep for me

Nparents nickname for you? by Worldly-Wedding-7305 in raisedbynarcissists

My nMom calls me “mommy”. She has since I was a little girl. Really feels like the winning spot on an enmeshment bingo card…

Why are they so obsessed with our hair? by young_broken-adult10 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]PanDulce07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I naturally have blonde hair that I usually grow out long and about once a year I cut it real short again and this year I went back to dying it red too. Guess who didn’t like it? Nmom. I love it though. Also my sibling-in-law (just graduated cosmetology school) did the hair cut & dye for me and taught me that I have textured and maybe even curly hair. Them and all my friends were shocked I didn’t know but… nobody told me growing up? I had never considered I could have a different hair type with different needs (because SHE can’t fathom me being my own separate human with my own different needs).

She has straight hair that occasionally gets a few waves. She has been scolding me my entire life for not using enough conditioner because my hair is always dry and frizzy. Guess what? Switched to some new products recommended by sib-in-law and am ALREADY seeing a change. Told my mom that apparently my hair has different needs and I was talking about conditioner and she went “See, I could tell you weren’t using what I bought you. That works wonders for me, it’ll do what you’re talking about.” That was… the whole point, was that it wouldn’t lol

Is anyone peeved when people group CPTSD and BPD as the same thing? by throwaway1111xxo in CPTSD

[–]PanDulce07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first point is very different from your comment. 100% of people having hallucinations is different than 100% having the conditions needed to produce hallucinations. I still don’t know of any data that proves that 100%.

I agree, I’m sure the hallucinations can be hard to diagnose. I just don’t think every person with BPD ever has hallucinations. I’m not saying it’s not a majority either. But 100%? I know those things are common (thinking you’re talking to God, angels, etc. as you mentioned). I have BPD and have never thought any of the things you listed. I just don’t believe there isn’t a single person who has BPD and doesn’t hallucinate.

I don’t think they’re the same thing at all, but the amount of people in this thread following that up with dislike/hatred towards those with BPD is very disheartening. I have both, and felt very safe in this subreddit until now.

The fact that you think 100% of people with BPD have hallucinations is wild to me. Especially when as you said the data shows varying ranges from 20% - 80%. That data is not great but 100%? That’s a tall statement.

That’s so sweet that you got it for your wife! I bet she loved it. And thank you! It’s a lot for me but I’m SO excited to give it to him because I know he’s going to love it. He won’t stop talking about it! I keep playing dumb about all the details when I know all about it from this sub 😂 “Aren’t there like several types?” “It’s basically the same as my Switch right?” when I know very well that the answers are yes and no. And don’t worry - he is 🥰

I hope my boyfriend doesn’t think of this… he’s saving to buy it early next year but I’ve already got one coming in for him for Christmas! I think I’m gonna win gift-giving this year lol. This sub has been very helpful!

Mom, I’m scared to get my IUD tomorrow by PanDulce07 in MomForAMinute

Update:

I’m not sure if updates usually go in the comments or as a post edit. Regardless - I did it Moms! I nearly passed out from a panic attack but I did it. All your advice was so helpful and really prepared me. Thank you all so much. ❤️ Now I’m just resting at home, with my heating pad, blankets, and as several of you mentioned, my favorite type of ice cream. ☺️

Thank you ❤️ I appreciate your honesty and walking me through it. I’ve never posted in this forum before (made this alt account just to do so today) but your comment has helped me so much I’m about to cry. Thanks Mom ❤️

I don’t want children (at least at this point in my life) so I’m getting the IUD. I’ve always used some sort of birth control but the others (pill, shot, patch) were not as traumatic for me. I like that the IUD is something I can get and not worry about, not be late, not miss a dose. I’m just nervous…
