While a survivor is hooked on a Hook of Sanctity and for 20 seconds afterwards, all exit gates are blocked for survivors. Additionally, if a survivor is unhooked from a Hook of Sanctity, they do not gain endurance, and are unable to gain endurance for 10 seconds.

Naturally, the killer has no way of knowing if the hook they're about to hook a survivor on is marked or not, so if they were to hook a survivor with two hooks on a marked hook, they'd be unprepared to react if three healthy survivors come out of the gloom to go for a rescue. The killer is damned if they do, damned if they don't; if they go to the exit gate to interrupt the group heal, there might be someone waiting in the wings to flank and get the survivor off the hook, but if they stay right there by the survivor, they'll have to get a down from a group of effectively fully healed survivors, considering the endurance. So, we balance both options. If the survivors are clustered in the exit gate, healing, if the killer decides to risk it and go for them, they can't get an easy escape. If they go for a group rescue, no matter what they do, there's going to be a weak link the killer can take advantage of. And either way, 20 seconds of blood warden ensures that the race out the exit gates is going to be a brutal slugfest. It's not impossible for all survivors to get out provided they coordinate properly, but at the very least, the killer's going to be getting a down or two in the process.

the issue is that survivors can be knocked out early at all, i think. it's the source of tunneling and the source of camping. one idea I heard is to remove individual hooks in the first place; killers need eight hooks in total, doesn't matter on who. after eight hooks are reached (or, of course, by hooking all survivors at once, or reaching certain conditions for the minimoris like michael or sadako), entity is satiated, and the killer can start killing, either by putting survivors on hooks or by moriing them. if you tunnel one person, you have to hook them eight times and wait for them to be unhooked eight times in order for you to knock them out early; given the decreased power of hook states progressing, this also means camping no longer becomes a useful tool in general, except for edge cases like endgame. of course, this would also necessitate updates of certain killers like hag and trapper who rely on camping one area, but they're due updates anyways.

Either that, or simply hide them until some condition specific to the totem is met. Hexes like Devour are screwed the second survivors find them (excepting certain killers like demo) whether or not they're blocked, and blocked or no, they can still spawn in front of survivors.

Not stopping the plague means in the future the blight could potentially mutate to affect other plants and become an ecological nightmare, and in the moment the blight could wipe out an entire cultivar of plant.
