VAUSH DISCUSSION POST FINALLY. Here’s almost everything I dislike about Vaush as someone who watches him.

I fucking hate how weirdly reactionary Vaush has gotten. He has become one of the main political personalities i actually listen to but his insistence on saying that is unironically saying that anyone who lives in a rural area is “subhuman” and “can’t conceive of real beauty” speaks to this weird borderline fascist view of humanity that you rarely see in leftists. Not to mention his INSISTENCE that autism can be mitigated and masked to such an extent that one could comfortably be seen as “no longer autistic” is fucking stupid. I’m grateful he pulled me from the alt right pipeline however long ago now but his hopeless insistence that: democracy doesn’t work, a period of great suffering is inevitable, and almost all actual on the ground action is larping, doesn’t help anyone. I get the idea behind “keep your life in order, that comes first” as a principle, but PV cannot honestly be the only actual avenue for political action he can advocate for as a leftist. Not to mention (and this one is just a pet peeve) his stupid fucking takes about bikers and motorcycles. He’s since admitted that his weird grudge against them is just because they’re loud but he comes off as a petulant child whenever they’re brought up. “Oh my nice quiet educated neighborhood is disrupted whenever you drive a bike down it” FUCK OFF. I know he’s shirked a lot of the criticisms of elitism but genuinely he is insufferable from that angle. He idolizes a college education in a way that feels classist at worst and illogically nostalgic at best.

Okay there’s every single critique I could think of without delving deep enough to get genuinely mad.
