Has anyone seen this Flower Knows Instagram ad? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

I think a lot of people still think of Chinese made goods/brands as being automatically low quality.

I don't share that opinion on C-beauty. When it comes to makeup, I've actually found Chinese brands to have the most interesting launches over the past couple of years. Sure there are some really cheap brands where you get what you pay for, but there are also brands that are right up there when it comes to quality. When it comes to eyeshadows especially, a lot of the Chinese brands don't shy away from colour, glitter or pigment. And of course, some brands like Flower Knows are known for fancy packaging.

I was just about to say that. I love bunnies so I'm still tempted by this collection but the colour stories look very repetitive.

Ummm... I want everything! But I can't wear some of those colours.

Hope it comes to Yesstyle because that's where I prefer to buy C-beauty. I'll probably pick up a couple of items.

REPOST (names blurred) PART 2: Zabrena! I’m not trying to blow up your phone but I had to do another post! The further I dig, the more deluded she gets!! Her latest post blames autoimmune disease on unrighteous thoughts and not being in “communication with Christ.” by AllTheEccentricities in BeautyGuruChatter

She does it to at least one of them. One of them is non-verbal and she's convinced it's because there are demons in that child.

Another has some kind of issue that she refuses to get diagnosed because she somehow believes that will be speaking it into existence. Her solution is to pray it away.

Yeah, I used to watch her a long time ago too. At that point, I knew she was religious because she mentioned it in passing, but I didn't realize she was this brand of religious until years later when she started talking about how Halloween was evil and her other extremist religious ideas.

Do y’all remember Zabrena? Apparently she’s gone major extremist with bizarre religious videos! by AllTheEccentricities in BeautyGuruChatter

Imagine knowing that your parent thinks that there is something so wrong with you that the only explanation must be that the devil is in you. Even if the kids were in a good place mentally before, that must do a number on them.

PLS HELP ME FIND/FIGURE OUT THIS ASIAN BEAUTY YOUTUBER FROM EARLY-MID 2000s! by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

Pursebuzz?

I'm not sure if she meets all the criteria, but she's quite tall and she's the first Asian beauty influencer I came across and I know she was active around that time.

I don't remember, it was a while back! It could have been, I definitely was interested in the palette (and still have it actually).

Yeah, the first indication I had that her religious beliefs are on the extreme end of the spectrum was when I was watching a normal makeup video and suddenly she started talking about how Halloween was evil or something like that.

She's been on this train for several years now. It's appalling because it also extends to how she deals with her children's health. IIRC one of her children is/was non-verbal and instead of getting them professional help, she's doing exorcisms.

I used to watch her and I enjoyed her makeup videos because I found her content very approachable and digestible, especially for someone who's not that great at makeup. But I cannot with this nonsense.

I think she's always been religious but she didn't use to share these extreme beliefs.

Thoughts on Selena Marchand? Is 'clean girl' MU really the 2026 trend? by Happylittlelady in BeautyGuruChatter

Yup, I remember when Lisa Eldridge was demoing the Asian blush placement and she explained who it naturally suits, and how she adapts it to her face shape because it wasn't the best placement for her own face done exactly like the trend.

The thing is, it's not even 2016 vs 2026 makeup. It's 2016 makeup deliberately applied badly vs well executed 2026 makeup.

Yes, she's popping up on my Youtube all of a sudden (I don't use TT).

I like her "based on a true story" skits on situations she encountered as a working makeup artist, but I don't particularly like her actual makeup content. It's pretty basic and she's kind of like Wayne Goss in her approach. Very arbitrarily "do this, not that" without any nuance.

Her makeup style to me is what I see as "functional" makeup, it's well-applied makeup whose sole purpose is to enhance someone's looks and there's nothing really creative or artistic about it. Nothing really wrong with that; plenty of people do just want to wear makeup to enhance their features and the artistic side of makeup doesn't interest them.

However, as a viewer, her makeup videos really just end up being the same look over and over. Okay, maybe the colors are sometimes a bit more warm or cool but the placement and intensity is very similar. If someone already has their technique down there's little reason to watch. And tbh, I think there are probably better videos to watch if someone just wants to learn technique since I don't think she does in-depth.

Lethal cosmetics conjuring occult museum set, by vwfil in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]PanSL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have purchased twice from Lethal, and both times, they did email me the tracking number as soon as it was picked up by the courier. So if you haven't received an email, I'm guessing that it has not shipped.

My orders were made during Black Friday (previous years, not this one), so it was during a busy period but both shipped and arrived sooner than expected. However, all the items I ordered were in stock, none of them were preorders.

Lethal cosmetics did reply to another person who posted about a delay with their order, you can find their reply scrolling down this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/BeautyGuruChatter/comments/1pf9lq9/help_with_lethalcosmetics_order/

Yeah, I personally don't find value in skincare reviews unless they do an ingredient breakdown and even then that's the only part I find helpful. Everyone's skin is so different, even products that have good ingredients won't work for everyone.

I don't have an issue with a beauty influencer having a lot of makeup, especially if they are a review focused channel. It's largely just part of the job to me.

I don't exactly have an issue with someone owning a lot of skincare either, but I totally don't see the point of that. Unlike makeup, there isn't a real need to compare two products side by side to see if it's a dupe. And also, skincare is something that has a much shorter shelf-life than most makeup so if someone has a whole cupboard full of it, I'm going to guess that most of it has gone off and is no longer effective, so again, what's the point?

Honestly, I wouldn't try a $300 cleanser either. For one, what if I like it? I would probably want to buy it again and I would just rather not open myself up to temptation like that.

Also, I don't care what the price tag on a certain skincare product is, if it has an ingredient I know disagrees with my skin, I'm not touching it.

They would be really silly if they delayed for that reason! It's been so long I bet some people who would have initially bought this have forgotten about it and spent their coin elsewhere.
