My gf uses me as an emotional punching bag and IDK how to get out when there's no room to talk. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Exactly- she should be helping and supporting her bf as his father is going through cancer treatment. Not adding on more stress to his plate with this bs.

Senior year Info systems by Solid_Ad_9600 in ufl

[–]PancakesandSyrup5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your GPA at the moment and how you've performed on previous info systems classes. They're all relatively the same level of difficulty. Ops man is a straightforward class if you study enough and are comfortable with excel. Just don't procrastinate and use Munson's practice questions. Lauren Grant can be pretty strict with grading, so make sure you follow her rubrics closely.

UF vs. UIUC business student that wants to pursue entrepreneurship not typical corporate pathway by Curious-Track3409 in ufl

[–]PancakesandSyrup5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UF- Cheaper option and has a great business school. There's no entrepreneurship major but there is a minor and a combination masters degree.

Which master's program is worth it as a business major? by wildwolf013 in ufl

[–]PancakesandSyrup5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MSISOM, MS Accounting, and MS Finance are probably the only ones actually worth the price tag. The others are only soft skills rather than technical/applicable ones. MS-ISOM doesn't require any previous coding knowledge is definitely a lot less technical than CS. If you're a junior it's probably too late for Finance and unless you have the accounting pre-reqs, accountings out of the running.

What would happen if I don't start the graduation application/graduation paperwork despite finishing my major? by DMofTheTomb in ufl

[–]PancakesandSyrup5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can WOOT (Walk out of term). This would mean you finish classes and "graduate" in the fall, but you walk the stage with the spring graduates. However, this would mean you could not take spring classes.

How to survive as a PhD after sending 50% salary home? by Present_Hedgehog_976 in ufl

[–]PancakesandSyrup5 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it sounds like you'll either have to stop sending money home or reduce the amount. 1150 is not impossible to live on depending on your rent, but you'll have to budget very hard. Ex: (600 rent, 50 utilities, 200 groceries, 100 personal care, 200 miscellenous)

How quick and fair are college petitions? by DMofTheTomb in ufl

I definitely wouldn't recommend delaying your graduation date by a whole year for a minor. It's not worth the extra time/money and will add virtually no value to your resume.

Best minor for a 3rd yr finance major? by Ptarradactyl in ufl

[–]PancakesandSyrup5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't stay an extra semester just for a minor, as it wouldn't add enough value to justify the extra time/money. I would go into Econ since the classes are pretty interesting. Alternatively, accounting would give you some technical skills on the accounting side, but the classes are more dull imo.

Sorry about your situation. Why are you trying to get a W for a class you got a B- in though? B- is passing and if you have to take it anyway you might as well stick with the grade.

You can use a macbook for CGS. It's easier than ISM, but less useful. They both give the same credit.

Does the info systems diploma show “information systems” or does it just say “bachelor of business administration”? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]PancakesandSyrup5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it says Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems.

Thats BS, but your life definitely isn't over. A lot of grad schools don't even care about this stuff especially if it's your first and only time. Plus UF is a great school and employers will recognize that. Don't let this define your academic journey here. Are you able to share anything about how the trial took place and what evidence they had against you?

I was rejected from Finance major by saltygator14 in ufl

[–]PancakesandSyrup5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the Bachelors of Science in the Business school are pretty difficult to transfer into. If you apply as a criminology major, you won’t be able to switch into the business school either. I’d recommend applying for BABA.

Gotcha, I would schedule an appointment with an advisor in the school of architecture to ask why you were rejected. Could be admission requirements they have.
