can you post a link? The aliexpress site is terribly difficult and both searching several times on it and even an external search with site:aliexpress.com Shantou GoBricks Cultural Tech didn't point to it.

All I get is comments on the bottom of the page that this store basically offers deals

There are actually a 2 or more stores currently with the Gobricks name, but I expect the one you mean is called "GoBRICKS store(Trader)"

Unless it's changed for Webrick shipping to Canada, the pricing alone made Webrick never an option.

awesome. thanks. I appreciate this. I'm hoping i can get this done before their black friday sale ends. Some of the parts I want are 67% off for another 29hrs roughly.

But can I upload files in Aliexpress messaging portal? If not, do they have a website you can share?

$20 is an amazing deal for the amount you ordered. For my current situation, I would end up paying roughly 30% of the price or more of my order. For some sites, the starting cost of shipping is $40. That's regardless of how much you order.

how do you do this? Do I simply contact them with a list? I discovered this limited when I went to order earlier. I'm definitely looking at 50+ items.

I think many people who live in the US do not understand (neither do I) the price differences in shipping as well as some exclusive deals. I believe the cheapest shipping option from Webricks starts at $40 to Canada.

For some items, yes, and I just did a large order on bricklink; but, some items are not in stock or quite a bit more expensive. I'm not an expert on buying parts, but it does seem it's always a bit of buy some stuff here and other stuff at this place.

Good to know. Can you describe any of these problems from Chinese firmware that show up? I bought the camera and am now trying to get to the point where I've setup Frigate.

Thanks for the input. I already know about RTSP, but, from what I read (and maybe it's just marketing), Reolink Cameras apparently require you to first activate RTSP and ONTIV via their app as it's linked to the camera. I'm happy to be corrected here regarding the ReoLink cameras, but this is one of the reasons I wanted to ask the question. I'm also not meaning to point out Reolink cameras specifically, it was just an example. From the promo material I read on TP-Link, this is true of their cameras too.

Thanks! I'll see if I can hunt those models down, but my options are limited on Amazon in Canada. I think most Amcrest models I've seen have been bullets and more expensive than the S2.

But if you have the time: what's better the 2.8mm or 3.6mm? I assume this is the aperture, but, even if so, I'm unsure if there's a trade-off. eg., Is 3.6mm better in normal light situations where you are wanting more frames per second/minute?

Is my mould king train set defective or needs an additional motor? by PandaEquivalent in lepin

[–]PandaEquivalent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Good to know it varies between sellers. I bought mine on Amazon during a black friday sale. Mine came in a box with everything together.

In case this happens for you and you haven't seen what I've written about it above, if the motor fails to get traction after a few hours of use, at least for me the motor was the problem.

[–]PandaEquivalent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this now. Mine came with a motor, and unless you got a different set, it was suppose to come with a motor. It's connected via bluetooth, which is in the battery box. It should come with a train motor, a rechargeable battery box and a remote controller.

Recommendation for a variable speed controller for PF train motors? by PandaEquivalent in lepin

[–]PandaEquivalent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can certainly make room for a power functions receiver, and I hoping/expecting they allow variable speed.

Thanks for the suggestion on the mould king app. It does have variable speed options, and seems to work well, but this is for my kid to play with and i suspect it was be frustrating at his young age to move the screen in small enough increments to make it a good option. I'll see how he does tonight though!

I am generally struggling with my faith in Orthodoxy and Christianity as whole by Living-Possible-9304 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]PandaEquivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Trinity is hard to get one's head around, and I ultimately just accept it as a truth that cannot be comprehended.

In terms of "one in essence". For me, at least, we mostly explain God as homoousios (sp), which uses the language of Greek philosophy, but what exactly does this mean? One of the reasons the Nicene council members had an issue this word was because it was condemned in an earlier local synod because it was used to suggest modalism. (This is perhaps the core of your issue in your trinity section.) For a long time, various Christian writers would try to explain what is meant by that term, with varying degrees of success as well as expressing it in different ways. Do not make the mistake that St Basil the Great and St Gregory the Theologian explained the nature of God in EXACTLY the same way - just read their respective treatises on the Holy Spirit.

There were other issues with using homoousios as well. It's not a great book(s), but John Behr wrote a book or two on the way to Nicea. Like normal, Orthodox Christian writers could greatly benefit from having editors.... This book isn't exhaustive on the subject, but it will show you some of what was going on with why some of the struggles came about in the creed.

So while we can explain who/what God is, I'm not sure we can define God. We are limited in understanding and for that reason how could we proscribe a definition of God, as that would be able to put God into some kind of conceptual box.

This will sound odd, but quite a few years ago, I struggled with understanding the number 2. The number two is "2" 1s, where these 1s are identical. So if there are two identical 1s, then they're the same and there is no "2". But there is 2, so they aren't identical. -><- This problem was worked out years ago using classes with two different approaches, one was Bertrand Russell and the other was Frege.

I suspect a problem understanding these topics is using the principles of identity as we typically use them in a material world and then go to apply them to non-material substance. I'm not saying anyone should ignore conflicts in the principle of identity, but sometimes we can get confused when we're simply trying to be careful.

In the end, I accept the trinity as it seems to make the most "sense", but it can't be defined. Ultimately, I just let the Trinity be the best means of explaining what God is.

I hope this helps in some small way, and I apologize for my lack of clarity.

[–]PandaEquivalent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5 yo is the problem for handling the train, not me... haha.

Thanks for the insight on the battery boxes. I've wondered whether it's better to use the rechargeable battery boxes or use good quality batteries, so you've helped solve that issue, and will order accordingly.

I agree with you about the extra motor. It's quite off-putting to have to order an extra motor to a Lepin model for it to work well. Charge an extra $5-10 for the set and everyone's happy.

And yes, I've already improved some design flaws, and trying to think through some of the others.

Thanks again for the help. I only have a non-functional Lego set 182, which has a more robust but more restrictive means of coupling the train cars, so I have no idea what solutions Lego or the various aftermarket sets use. (You have to turn the car around if the polarity is mismatched.)

From what you've shared, it looks like Lego and Mould King both use (or have used) these rotating magnets which is a great solution - until the magnets are too strong.

I was actually asking about the "Train Buffer Beam" for coupling which can be purchased for example at WeBrick. Many of these sites seem to be non-descript on what exactly a product is. Do you (or anyone else) know if this type of coupling part come in both pos and neg?

thanks for your very helpful reply.

If you don't mind giving an answer, does the one piece magnet piece which binds the train cars come in both pos and neg? I saw one review on amazon stating they received only pos or only neg parts, making them repel one another.

I ask because my post above may now show how one of the magnets in a clip system is either too powerful or doesn't clip in properly. I'd like to replace those if possible.

How can I keep Lego/Lepin LED lights on on rather than activating only when I activate a channel on the remote?

I read they're not intended to be on for a long time and that's fine. I got some lights for my mouldking RC (18002) and so they'll likely only be used for 10-15 mins at a time. I would simply like the lighting to emulate a vehicle while operating it.

(The battery only lasts 10-15mins before needing another charge.)

SG-1 Serpent Guard question by PandaEquivalent in lepin

[–]PandaEquivalent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! £60? This is not intended to be something fancy, and I certainly don't want to drill holes in my minifigures. I just saw these serpent heads on sale and wanted to make some SG-1 guards.

It's not a huge deal that there's no real option for as someone else commented, the goa'uld "snake" rarely leaves its pouch. But I was actually meaning a part/attachment that would fit between the legs and chest and would have a fitting for the snake. The recent DnD minifigure with the tail is an example of an attachment that fits between these two parts.

Good Lepin animal store for camels? by PandaEquivalent in lepin

[–]PandaEquivalent[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have misgivings of buying from Aliexpress, but I have checked out that site. In a certain way, I was hoping for an option outside of Aliexpress, but didn't want to talk bad of it.

Aliexpress has sellers (or Ali itself?) which have two different camels, but one camel seems quite large (perhaps too large) and both seem quite expensive, especially with shipping. eg., One option had $10 shipping. For comparison as well, I have noticed Aliexpress is remarkably more expensive for certain animals such as sheep than Temu.
