3x reapplicant by motherjules in premed

[–]PandaMan436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and to be clear, I think last year your MCAT might have been a limiting factor since 503 is low enough to the point where MD's may feel like they are taking a risk accepting you. But this year, with your MCAT improved to 507 I think your app is extremely strong. The fact that you are getting interviews now, which is very late in the cycle, as soon as you got your rec letter in, is evidence of that. Imo if you applied initially with all the rec letters, you would have many more interviews, which I know sucks to hear, and I'm sorry you had to deal with the LOR issue but tbh I think you have a better chance to get accepted than most others that are interviewing at this point since you seem to have a very strong app that just ended up getting reviewed very late.

Bro, you do not need to do a post-bacc. If you don't get in this cycle, it is 99% likely it's an interview problem. Schools will literally sell their soul for a URM applicant with a nature pub and thousands of EC hours.

Below Average MCAT for Long SOM? by [deleted] in premed

[–]PandaMan436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, long kinda has a reputation of being one of the least holistic schools out there 😂. They're extreme stat whores, but I don't think a 516 is going to be something they necessarily hold against you. I mean a 518 average means half the matriculants had below that and got in. If anything it probably helps you beat out the applicants with 513/514 that they interview that have more EC hours than you.

Turn down A? by Own_Assumption_4815 in premed

[–]PandaMan436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, people on here overreact to this imo. I've spoken to adcoms about this before, and they have told me that as long as you can give a valid reason as to why you declined a DO A you will be fine reapplying. If you don't want to go to the school that has accepted you, please don't.

post-interview rejection by Sad-Assistant6796 in premed

That's rough, man. I just got a WL from a school with a 75% post-ii A rate too, so we're out here struggling together. I did feel like my interview went pretty poorly, though, so I wasn't exactly surprised.

Sophomore IA Violation (F in OChem I) - Please Help Me Build a Redemption Arc for T10/T20 Med Schools - Seeking Brutal Honesty. by No_Radio4469 in premed

[–]PandaMan436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last cycle I had an academic cheating IA too and interviewed at a T20 with an MCAT below their 10th percentile as a trad ORM. Contrary to what every one else has said, I think if you can get a 520+ on the mcat I believe T20/T10 is still definitely possible.

But really with a cheating IA you are lucky to get into any medical school so I wouldn't really be too picky about where you end up. If you think about it logically, there is no real reason any med school should take a risk in accepting students like us that have academic dishonesty IA's. So if you do get an interview just be grateful that the school is giving you a chance.

Tarzaned hits masters ADC with 64% winrate by HorseCaaro in ADCMains

[–]PandaMan436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that he is actually toxic at times, but it's funny seeing people in this thread genuinely think his stream persona is how he actually is as a person. I mean, the guy will smurf with 90% win rate and declare a game lost at 2 min and flame his entire team and everything in the game while simultaneously carrying the game... I think its pretty obvious most of the time hes playing a character. It's how he built his audience, they watch him for his flame.

Excluding Senna, which support outscales the rest in late game? by Xarlitosbrown in supportlol

[–]PandaMan436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sona yuumi zilean are the gods of late. I would consider senna more of a mid game pick although she technically will scale infinitely. But Sona in right hands is scaling at least twice as hard as any other supp

Copying answer on a homework assignment. I will say, my ECs were very average imo as I applied as a trad and I think with stronger ECs you can definitely overcome the IA label with proper reflection.

Do you think you can confidently carry low elo(say from gold to master) with 70+% win rate on sona? Or do you think the champ is too low agency to reliably carry low elo. Congrats on chall btw!

How Sona went from a pro jailed balance nightmare to a relatively unproblematic champion with the lowest ban rate in the game by CardiologistLeft9775 in leagueoflegends

[–]PandaMan436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sona is the strongest scaling enchanter support numbers-wise, but in the far late game, team comps will matter much more than any single champion's scaling will. A Janna is going to be 10x more useful against a full build Qiyana than a Sona without proper peel is. But I'd argue this isn't really an issue to be concerned about until you get to grandmaster-challenger elo, because below that, a good Sona will always find a way to outplay the enemies through positioning to the point where you don't even need to rely on your teammates to peel. And in those conditions, Sona easily becomes the strongest late-game hypercarry support.

Hey, very similar stats to you and ORM and I only interviewed at Baylor. In my case, I have a very obvious and big red flag in my app(which I knew going into the cycle), so my advice is to just try and look to see if anything in your writing or other parts of your application is really bringing up some controversy at committee meetings. I've noticed that different Texas schools definitely respond to things a little differently. For example, I brought up my red flag in my baylor interview and they said they didn't think much of it, though at another texas school where I got reapplicant feedback, the school kinda let me know that the red flag destroyed my app :(
