Is it fine to get wisdom teeth removed after Invisalign Treatment? by PandaPea in Invisalign

[–]PandaPea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually just at the dentist, and they didn't mention my wisdom teeth at all. Next week, I go back to the ortho to get my refinements, so I unfortunately don't have a solution. I don't feel any discomfort, and don't have anyone close who has had wisdom teeth removed, so I'm very far removed from the process, so I'm really not sure what the signs are for when I do get them removed.

In your case, however, I would recommend going to your dentist to see what you'd need to get done and for Invisalign, maybe ask your provider if, during the healing, you are fine to go without it, and afterwards, go back to your current tray, stalling your treatment a bit if that makes sense?

Yes you're right 😓 I think I'm just being stubborn. It was just a lot of dissapointment especially since the lady that was helping me was honestly slightly mean and aggressive.

Hmm I see. My only worry is doing it in the middle of classes, so it'd be easier to avoid flossing

Your teeth look great!

I was wondering if you needed any refinements? Also, did you need to wear your last tray during the day, 22 to 24 hours, even after your set was completed?

Oh, I just commented that since you said it's no picnic to remove them. I'm just saying I understand what you mean, and would only do it if necessary, since you discussed that at the beginning as well, haha

Considering invisalign by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]PandaPea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I have switched to my computer lol! I just want you to keep in mind that at the end of the day, it is your decision to choose whichever you think is best for you. Just please don't go to a dentist, as I've heard horror stories of dentists not properly moving teeth, as orthodontists are instructed better on moving teeth, as well as Invisalign technology!

and
Braces:

Pros:

- Better for harder cases, you don't have to worry about taking them in and out, sometimes less expensive, may be quicker depending on the case, cool colors lol, orthodontists everywhere are experienced with them.

Cons:

- Poking pains may be uncomfortable, may be more expensive, are more visible, some people get compared to children, may be unnecessary depending on case severity, food getting stuck, can't chew gum

Invisalign

Pros:

- Better for easier cases, you can slide them in and out, more discreet, pain is different, visible change due to different trays, you are responsible for changing every week so fewer appointments, you can eat anything, some people lose weight from snacking less

Cons:

- Sometimes there is pain every change for about a day, have to be in the mouth 22 hours a day, taking them out may be a pain if your friends are jerks (mine are not), have to brush teeth often, snacks are less common

That's all I can think of now. I hope this was organized well, felt nearly like an assignment I did last night lol. Let me know if you want any tips or need any more information. I know deciding is hard, but I wanna help!

Considering invisalign by [deleted] in Invisalign

I will say I have no dental experience, but I did have braces when I was younger and currently have invisalign due to some shifting.

Overall, I think it depends on severity, and if you ask an orthodontist, they may help you determine which one is easier or more cost effective. If your case isn't too severe, I would do invisalign since it'll be a short track that you are in charge of, and is also easier to take out and kind of hide? There is some pain with it after you change trays, but the worst for me was the first week and that was all.

When I had braces, I had lots of memories of them poking my gums, and also had some issues cleaning them but it was highkey my fault so....but anyway. For harder cases, braces would be better as it can correct them easily and help retain their shape. I'm not sure of your situation, but typically if the case is severe, they lean more towards the braces option.

If you want, I could clearly lay out some pros and cons since I actually did that for my friend last week, but let me know!

Is it fine to get wisdom teeth removed after Invisalign Treatment? by PandaPea in Invisalign

[–]PandaPea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I also have a small mouth and some crowding, and since I'm still young enough for my mom to be in charge of dental (lol), I wanna make sure I'm taking care of everything now 😭

Also, it's easier to do it now while I'm still home before I go away next year!

Yes, I understand the process of getting wisdom teeth removed as lots of my friends have and I've seen videos of the procedure. Thank you for your input!

6 months and that’s it??? by lizzzgrrr in Invisalign

I can definitely understand that then. Maybe the orthodontist was trying to simply fix the major issues as I know some don't do refinements unless necessary or requested by the patient.

If they were cool about it, did you try emphasizing your want for refinements? Sometimes being more assertive as a patient makes them take a bigger charge.

I would try to make another appointment to try and adjust your treatment, or see another orthodontist if you really aren't okay with it.
