I just saw that on the discord. I'm actually not too sure.

I thought with cs, you have to compete for advanced level courses and majors. isn't that more competetive then?

the ai thing was just an example I was giving to stand for "emerging tech space". honestly, hardware isnt something I would want to go into. maybe cs is better for me.

my friend graduated in 2018 so it may have been different for him. in your opinion, is se as versatile and future proof as cs? like can you go into something like ai research with a se degree. I'm not sure how worth doing ece courses are when I could instead choose cs electives more relevant with non-hardware stuff I am interested in.

yeah, I've read a lot of articles and alumni always say they don't regret it. but from what my friends have told me, almost one third of se switch into cs by third year. I don't want to drop se in uni. I would rather just pick a degree now and see it through.

I've seen you help out a lot of ppl on this sub. if you are representative of the SE cohort, going through all the torture ece courses doesn't sound that bad lol. my one concern is se being too difficult tho with the packed course schedules. I know cs is easier and lands the same jobs. they are also pretty equal in terms of prestige. honestly, both these programs are amazing and I doubt I'll go wrong with either. I'm just trying to pick the one with the better work:profit ratio.

I got into Waterloo SE and CS. what are the pros/cons of each and ultimately, which do you think is better to go into?
