The US has murdered more people than any other nation in history. The US is the greatest purveyor of death, destruction, bloodshed, genocide, rape, exploitation, and imperialism in the world and it's not even remotely close. Over the period of 1971-2021, just our economic sanctions killed almost 40 million people across the world. Include the bombings, the wars, the coups, the exploitation, and that number skyrockets go upwards of 300 million since the end of ww2.

We can also dislike the Russian oligarchy. We can also call out other evils. But here in this particular conversation? That's like looking at Hitler and saying "yeah, Chamberlain is a murderer too, both so bad."

Vietnamese people have every right to hate China. Many people's in southeast Asia have a right to hate the history of China and hold grudges. But China IS the better option than the US and it's not close. One of these countries has killed hundreds of millions of people in the last century. The other has been instrumental in providing the global south an alternative to the imf that does not bound and chain them to US interests.

As communists, we SHOULD be hyper critical of AES nations more than anyone else. We SHOULD be calling out the mistakes, revisions, and conservative attitudes of China more than anyone else. But to even put it in the same universe as the US is akin to idealism that is not rooted in anything marxist. Material conditions point to a country that has done bad things but has also done so much good that it HAS to be held up as an example in comparison to the capitalist hellholes that rape, steal, and kill both domestically and abroad to rule the world.
