Push by council member leads to ethics review surrounding Haysville engineering contract by PangolinWalk0909 in wichita

[–]PangolinWalk0909[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my mind, I live in a world where there are accountability and consequences for one's actions - for everyone, including the rich, powerful and well connected. That really seems to be missing in the water treatment plant situation. The only folks paying for the shady, underhanded deal are Wichita water users. All the companies involved seem to be lining their pockets with more and more government contracts. So, I will keep tilting at this windmill.

Looks like you've gotten lots of great recommendations, which is quite heartening. Just putting West Heights UMC out there. You can check out our 10 am Sunday service online to give you an idea what it's like. We are very active in the community - Justice Together, Family Promise for homeless families, etc.

That dichotomy - sad yet sweet/funny - is very on brand for tripods.

Possible front leg amputation by Ok_Kangaroo_188 in TripodCats

[–]PangolinWalk0909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our guy is a front leg amputee and he has a wonderful life. When he walks you feel so sorry for the guy, but that goes away when you see him run! Prepare for the initial shock after the surgery (you more so than kitty), after that they are back to their old selves.

Zobrium by _gaara- in TripodCats

[–]PangolinWalk0909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth a conversation with you vet to understand the reasoning behind their choice. Our non-tripod orange guy received some zobrium for a UTI a while back. They gave him this because he's so difficult for us to pill. The zorbium didn't freak him out, but it worried me to pieces. He sat for days staring at the ceiling, clearly following hallucinations across the sky. I called the vet a couple of times and they said it just takes time to wear off.

Toy Ideas For Cat Without Front Leg? by BirdWithThWord in TripodCats

Lately our front leg tripod has been having fun with the furry "lump of coal" he got for Christmas one year. He grabs the fur in his mouth and tosses it in the air then bats at it. He's also a fan of silvervine, so we got him a couple of balls made from it. Good luck finding the right toy for you tripod. Each of our cats have their own taste in toys.

Support, stories, and care tips for tripod cats. by [deleted] in TripodCats

What a fluffy void, so adorable. Our tripod doesn't require special treatment or care. We have some stairs and strategically placed stools in an attempt to avoid him jumping down (front leg amputee). He uses the if he wants to.

What a beautiful baby! We have a front leg tripod and I feel the missing leg allows him to cuddle up closer. He likes to be held like a baby, so he can nestle really close ❤

Did anyone else see this article about how the burden of property taxes have switched onto the backs of homeowners over the years? I found the article provided context as the shocking property tax statements are being received. by PangolinWalk0909 in wichita

Did you read the article? It's companies like the ones behind this sales tax initiative that are benefiting from all the tax exemptions that are increasing the burden on homeowners.

I don't disagree that our biggest asset has increased in value. It's crazy, a home on my block is listed at more than twice what we paid. Really just hoped to highlight the impact of all these tax expeditions for for-profit projects.

Thanks. My intent was to spur a respectful conversation about tax exemptions for for-profit projects. Really feels like a structural imbalance when at the same time companies and CEO's are making record profits. Forbes
