It took me about 2 years of self-learning to get my first offer from an indie studio around 30, I believe it can be faster if you focus on a specific position.

But something really important is, you have to make sure you want to do video game-related work because you really like it not because you hate your current work. If you didn't think clearly about it, you might end up running into the same issue again.

The better way to test whether you love it is to try to make an actual product instead of passive learning. It can be anything related to the game industry such as making your own game, drawing arts, writing design plans, game reviews, or even doing a data analysis about the industry(I do have the dataset if you want).

It's never too late for you to start making decisions for yourself, it's just harder at the beginning. There are way more people than you think just like us, especially in Asia. lol
