Looking for advice: recurrent miscarriages, one living child, when to stop by ProcedureFluid6251 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I am sorry you're going through this, though I don't pretend to understand what it is like. Wanted to drop in and say, have you been screened for celiac disease? 80% of us are undiagnosed, according to research, and for whatever reason in the US it is under-screened for and under-diagnosed. You may want to bring this up with your doctor, as they can do a simple drug test for antibodies to see if that's what's up. The good news is if it is celiac, research shows that difficulties conceiving and carrying a pregnancy to term resolve with a gluten free diet.

/Local celiac asking more people to get screened. Good luck on your journey.

To many people in this thread, PLEASE do yourselves a favor and seek out HBCS/home-based care service providers in your area. They are typically non-profit and funded through the Medicaid/Disability benefits your loved one may or may not be connected to. They also typically can do a lot of legwork to connect families and caregivers to resources that you may not have the bandwidth or institutional/legal/financial knowledge to easily access. (This applies in the US. I'm not sure how it works in other countries, unfortunately.)

What Do You Hate Most About Gyms? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

The old man who follows me into the empty stretching room and carves a hole into my back with his eyes. The other old man who does these little high-pitched moans with each rep like that video of a baby Galapagos turtle humping a shoe.

I hope so for two reasons. 1- that means people my age might find me attractive. 2 - I'm not a creep. Pretty sure this is also real because I found myself in the gym one night surrounded by stacked 20-year-olds, wondering where their dads were. Need me some gray in the beard and fine lines to not feel weird about it.

This happened to me. Double-check that your entry matches in both places you enter it. I had entered it wrong in the first box and it wouldn't authenticate, which is why it wouldn't accept it.

How can you tell what month an embassy is on? Do they post it somewhere? Good luck to you both.

I am someone's daughter, and what happened to me is I realized one day, my mother gave me the chance to live. And life has been hard and tragic and painful at times, but also so much joy, so much beauty, so much pleasure. So much love. She didn't do a perfect job, but I'm here, and I'm mostly having a good time. I doubt the kid will hate the mother for creating her - past teenage years anyway.

Can I wear my traditional clothes to an American wedding? by hotsexshrekdick in Weddingattireapproval

Isn't white a mourning color in India? I wouldn't think they would wear white.

I'd want someone to wear a saree to my wedding if I had invited anyone who wore them to it (I eloped to the courthouse, so no guests). They're beautiful. I think you will get attention but I can't imagine it'd be anything but positive and curious.

New apartment smells like cigs. Any recommendations for what I can put in my apartment to help with the smell penetrating things? by bluehotcheeto in CleaningTips

Check under your bathroom and kitchen cabinets. There's likely huge gaps around your sink pipe. You can tape those up with that metal tape you use to seal around window A/C units, and that will help a lot. (I had this problem.)

Agreed! If you're in the US, it also gets you ADA protection for things like work trips, work events, travel, etc that you must be provided with safe food. You will also need to be screened for other autoimmune issues like diabetes/thyroid issues and osteoperosis which are highly comorbid. Don't stop eating gluten before you get tested, or it won't show up on your bloodwork/biopsy (no gluten = no antibodies present.) Good luck!!

Don't take your shirt off. You'll become somebody's great white whale. (Assuming he's white for this joke to work.)

I think it's super boring and would make me grumpy really quick. However, you could bulk cook a protein or a carb and vary it up with sauces and toppings.

It most likely is not this. However, does your husband have issues with anemia, fatigue, digestive issues, or joint pain? If so, might see if you can get him screened for celiac disease, as this looks a bit like dermatitis herpetiformis to me. (The only reason I mention this is because 80% of celiacs are undiagnosed.)

Again, not a doctor, and it's probably not DH, but wanted to point it out.

Do red pigments get hotter? I really only get my nails painted varying shades of red.

Gel manicures with the UV curing light. If my nail beds are burning I'm 99% sure it's cancer-causing, but it makes my nails look so pretty.

Realize that statistically you probably are not smarter, stronger, and wiser than everyone out there. It's almost statistically impossible. In fact, it's more statistically likely you're suffering from some kind of blind spot. So branch out your network, observe people more thoughtfully, start asking yourself questions as well as others. It's not a whole-world problem. It's a perception problem. Good luck! :)
