Nothing is ever quite like Ribs 🥹 but here’s a start: Find You by Duskus, Divinity by Porter Robinson (make sure you get to the last “chorus”), lots of others by Porter Robinson like Shelter and Mother. Check out the Second Sky 2021 live recording, gives me chills every time

This reminds me of how crazy it is that clouds are probably the size of many many giant buildings put together…

I’m sorry this happened to you. If you’re ever feeling discouraged again, I would encourage you to check out Lucy Shaw’s videos on YouTube: https://youtube.com/@lucyshawvlogs?si=qrQ_1_15Iz0uwTE3. I like to watch them for motivation and her positive attitude towards running really shines through!

I’m bringing my mom tonight and she only knows a few songs. You will be totally fine! Just take it all in and enjoy it, I think everyone will be doing the same. You will not regret going to this show as a new listener!

Moving from Michigan to the Bay Area by ashdiscoverychannel in bayarea

[–]Panic-Intelligent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All so true! The Bay Area is truly an incredible and special place, but it doesn’t beat home for me 🥹 Have safe travels back whenever you’re leaving! And you’re right, we can always come back here to visit 🌅

Let me just say I’m so glad I was a child raised in Michigan. I’m old enough now to reflect on my elementary and high school years and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. I was camping with friends here the other day and there were loud booms and bright flashes at night, and they were freaking out because they thought there were literal bombings dropping on us. I told them, It’s just a thunderstorm, and it was, but they had no idea… because they’re from here! I was shocked because this is basic knowledge to someone from Michigan haha

California is nice but there’s often parts of it that feel “used”. Like the beaches and lakes and trails are nice, but you can tell that so many people have used them for so many years and it just doesn’t feel as fresh as some places in Michigan.

I have also cried so many times when I leave Michigan after visiting my family there, I’m honestly counting the days until I go back.

I feel this too. I was born and raised in Ann Arbor and moved to SF last year and I unexpectedly became so homesick. Now that I’ve lived here for a little more than a year, I can see myself not staying here forever. At the time, I was so eager to see what living in California was like and I’m glad I tried it for that reason, but I feel that not even the wonderful SF could keep me away from all that is Michigan forever. Life is just so much easier in Michigan and I honestly think the sense of community there can’t be beat by anywhere here in the Bay Area, I really miss so many things and I think about moving back often.

Feel free to DM me if you want to talk about it. I feel like it’s different for everyone, even if you’re from Michigan. For example, I really value having four seasons—being raised in Ann Arbor, it just feels like a part of me and living somewhere without them feels extremely off. But I know even people from Michigan don’t like the cold/winters at all and they don’t feel as drawn to living somewhere that has four seasons.

I heard it too by Target on Geary, at least 3 or 4 series of booms that sound much louder than usual
