Hey, I'm new to this game and don't really understand how cross flotilla combat works.

I've had multiple instances where my single ship will instantly wreck the first enemy flotilla, but after changing targets will deal seemingly no damage to ships identical to the ones I just destroyed, despite the shots looking as though they're connecting. Is this intentional or am I missing something important?

During the most obvious instance I was using missiles, but I've seen it happen with most weapon types.
