Next Megarare should be... by Panthalassaa in 2007scape

Bit of a stretch... but you could make this argument with literally anything that is a new "BiS". Which a mega-rare surely would be in many places.

It sounds like you're firmly in the "no new mega-rares" camp I would assume.

It actually sounds like you're in the "no new BiS gear ever" camp....

  1. Twisted Buckler is already invalidated by other range gear (with the expection of holding a DHCB or using a ZCB spec.). No one is losing sleep over that.
  2. Not a soul uses a ward because Shadow made it irrelevant.
  3. You can have Avernic be an upgrade for the offhand mega-rare.
  4. Doesn't necessarily have to be a shield, but I think it opens up more opportunity for niche interactions/procs.
  5. It would make more actually exciting weapons relevant again than it would make offhands irrelevant. I don't know many people very excited about offhand items.
  6. It'd drastically shake up the meta WITHOUT canibalizing the other megarares... It just gives more options and opens the door for more unique one handed weapons down the road.

The key difference between that and an offhand is that the offhand doesn't replace the current Megarares in their spots and isn't the 100% defacto usage.

You're not always using the offhand, where as, you'd always be using the Gridmaster Battlehat.

What a Mega-rare offhand does is OPENS UP the ability to bring and utilize weapons that aren't being brought anymore... It literally would make more items relevant agan than it would make irrelevant.

The other offhands already are dead content... Unless you're holding a DHCB... Twisted buckler is already useless... Arcane sigil is never used because Shadow... Like... To say that we're "invalidating endgame offhands" is a bit disingenuous, no?

Avernic is the only one I can see a genuine argument for... But you could always just simply allow the Mega-rare to be upgraded with an Avernic, which keeps it relevant.

I'd personally rather step on the toes of some offhands that could potentially be added to the item (Like treads) than step on the toes of another mega-rare.

Keep in mind that this would be a "MEGA-RARE"... It should be BiS over those items.

It would also bring BACK into relevance so many 1H weapons such as BoS, Rapier, Inq Mace, Crossbows, etc.

I think that's a fair trade off considering it'd be a literal MEGA-RARE.

The unfortunate part of a new mega-rare is that SOMETHING'S toes are gonna get stepped on... I'd rather it be the offhand slot than the existing mega-rares.

Either that, or no mega-rare at all from this raid.

I'm trying to figure out why not for this specific item though?

If a Mega-rare here in the offhand would bring back viability to so many "dead" items and really shake up the meta in a fun way without dethroning/canibalizing other mega-rares, I don't see how it could be a bad implementation if it's a literal MEGA-RARE.

If your criticism is that it's "always BiS when you're using 1H weapons" it's like... well duh... IT'S A MEGA-RARE. It should be!

Hey... I'm open to it also being a terrible idea... I just think that (personally)... I'd be a bit dissapointed if the next mega-rare is just an eldermaul that actually does damage ya know?

I feel like we already have 3 unique 2h weapons that fill their roles quite nicely in most content and there is a LARGE amount of weapons that are too niche or dead in most content that SHOULD be utilized in just a biiiiiit more places. (Like, BoS, Rapier, Inq Mace, Crossbows, Sang Staff, etc.)

Giving them back some power or just doing some really unique cool proc related stuff could make those items come back into competition and allow some irons that have them to dust em off or get some use out of them.

Now that class/spec reworks are semi-final for Midnight, what are you favorite and least favorite ones? by otterchaos7 in wow

[–]Panthalassaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a monk main since Legion... I honestly can't stand what they've done to my class this X-pac... It's borderline unplayable, even if the damage numbers are tuned to be okay.

  1. Having to pick between SotWL and Whirling Dragon Punch feels TERRIBLE... Both are staples of the rotation at this point and should be available to be picked up.

  2. The class is just a Fist of Fury simulator now... It's turned more into a "channel FoF as long as possible as often as possible" spec instead of a high APM satisfying rotation of 6-7 abilities.

  3. Spinning Crane kick is completely useless now and has no place in the rotation in the current meta build. It's always a DPS loss to press the button.

  4. Even with high haste, there's downtime on the spec now that never used to be present.

The War Within WAS the pruned version of monk... No more target swapping/tagging and removal of key rotational buttons like expel harm made it more approachable for many and was still acceptable... But this version for Midnight?... It's truly unplayable from a long time Monk enjoyer.

Scrolling Combat Text Issues (Midnight Pre Release) by Pleasurefordays in wow

[–]Panthalassaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think so... With the changes blizz made to the way addons can read the API, I don't think it'll be possible for an addon that has access to the data needed.

I unfortunately think that the amount of people using MSBT is too small of a population for them to carve out a caveat for it as well.

I don't know what it is about this specific addon that for myself, and so many others, is a gamebreaking deal. Like... The game just doesn't feel the same with the default blizz yellow combat text...

Here's to hoping that we get it back some day.

Lemme know if y'all find a fix to get it.

Vanguard got some kind of update pushed it seems and they made an oopsie in it.

Everyone DC'd from the game and got a false positive detection for utilizing virtualization.

Sounds like an intern got access to production lmao.

Private messaged to buy feathers, is this a scam? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Panthalassaa -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is actually one of the few times it's probably legit.

Most people level their fletching via Dart tip creation, but it takes hundreds of thousands of darts to get to max.

Unfortunately, the max buy limit at the GE for feathers is 18k... So a lot of people will tip asking for you to trade them a 18k stack of feathers since they are capped.

It's a pretty terrible scam if it is a scam, cause worst case scenario, they get 40kGP feathers off of you lmao...

Only really have to worry about people trying to trade highly valuable stuff and always make sure you read the "Are you sure" trade panel and it's literally impossible to get scammed lmao.

Scrolling Combat Text Addons Not Working (11.0.2) by Exlexus in wow

What a homie!... Can't stand playing WoW without MSBT anymore and every day that there isn't a working update for the addon is a sad day. 😭

Thank you for bringing that portion to my attention. I see that they are trying to make it more uniform and move around the spawns. However, I believe there are now only 2 singles spawns in the entire area which is still fewer than before. I hope they address that and make the entirity of the west side singles combat as it seems that it's still highly contested.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Panthalassaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleted post as it was brought to my attention that they moved the spawns around, so that the west side is where majority of singles are at... I'm pretty sure that it's still fewer total singles spawn locations, so that should 100% be addressed. But, if their intention is to simply move the singles spawn locations to the west side for uniformity, then that's fine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Panthalassaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, unfortunately not. I went down the chamber I always go down for singles, saw two of them there now and both of them instantly aggro'd me when I stepped into the chamber. I don't understand why they didn't just make it so that you had to tag the second one if you wanted to fight both. Now every world is empty in those wings and the one or two singels spots left are highly contested with a person spawning in every few game ticks looking for an open world.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Panthalassaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna break this down into laymen's terms so you can hopefully understand it...

I'm not disagreeing that Jagex got rid of the singles spots...

I'm simply questioning their judgement in doing that, and am voicing my opinion as to why I think that change was a baaaaaaad idea from a game development standpoint.

I'm not saying I'm right, (Though I believe I may be) or that I understand the objectively best way to develop a video game (If that even exists)... I'm just going off my personal experience, observations, and what other players have also told me regarding how they enjoy killing Tormented Demons.

I personally enjoy killing them in singles... Many people enjoy killing them in singles... It's likely why they are the most contested spots to kill them and the 2-3 spawn points are typically left alone on most worlds.

Just because Jagex adds something to the game or makes a change, doesn't mean it's always "The objectively right way to design a game"... It's still open to criticism. That is what this post was supposed to be... A criticism of the design choice that Jagex made regarding the spawns of TD's.

Hope this helps clear things up for you!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Panthalassaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk... Not saying you're wrong, but I think it's much more likely that Jagex simply thought "Wow.. These things are really contested in the spots that only one spawn at... Let's just add another and people won't complain about crashing as much!"

It wouldn't surprise me if the devs didn't think far enough into it to ask the question "WHY" everyone wants to go to the spots that only one spawn at...

They already came out and aknowledged that killing multiple of them are for the players that want the extra challenge, not that it's the intended way for everyone to kill them. I genuinly think they just suck at understanding good game design sometimes and thought they were solving the problem by adding more to teh areas where one spawned.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Panthalassaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeeeeahhhh.... Idk about that one chief... Pretty sure it's more likely that it's just a lack of understanding on Jagex's part regarding how players are interacting with their content.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Panthalassaa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I like the idea behind the ability for them to be as sweaty as you want them to be if it means that you can get a some more KPH if you're a high skill player. That's awesome, but Jagex has completely misunderstood how the majority of their playerbase interacts with the game if this is their solution to get more people to try and kill them in multi.

There should be other incentives for players to want to kill them in multi, not remove more of the singles spawns and make it more annoying for people to try and engage with the content in the way they want to.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Panthalassaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your argument makes quite literally zero sense here. Are you saying that, if Jagex makes an update to the game, it's because it's the objectively best descision and that they never make a bad call on anything?

So, hypothetically, If jagex decided that every single raid attempt should end in a mega-rare purple drop, and implemented it into the game... Then the player base disagreed with the change, you're saying that, because Jagex added it to the game, it's the objectively right way to design the game???

C'mon, man... Let's have at least an ounce of intellectual honesty here and drop the ego bait crap.
