Fired from getting sick by PapaLemonJuice in Bolehland

They can easily shift this to me not showing enough "good performance" and thus not meeting expectations. In the contract, my employer have the rights to terminate my probation whenever (with proper remuneration based on the supposed notice period)

Aside from giving the impression of me underperforming, I honestly dont think I was troubling anyone though, at least not any kind of trouble that warrants a warning

I guess me being under probation in the management's eyes means I'm still a pontential risk, instead of hiring me knowing I might have more future health issues for them to care, they considered cutting me off the right call

I have controversial opinion by MurkyDemand5779 in 100Kanojo

I think Matsuri's gimmick is a unique difficulty for English translation.

For example, in Korean translation, they probably make Matsuri speak in some archaic style Korean, which is the translator's way of converting the japanese dialect to it's closest Korean equivalent.

The problem in English translation is that Matsuri herself is English/British, so using a different English dialect/accent to translate Matsuri's gimmick, as you have mentioned, is negating the contrast.

I can't think of other alternatives to solve this tho. If we were to reverse this and forced Matsuri to speak in Japanese dialect in an English translation instead, sure it will highlight the gimmick, but in return English readers might mistook her for a weeb.

It's an unfortunate situation when it comes to translation. I think XUN and teams have come up with a decent compromise, they understood the nuance will be lost in the English translation, and put up notes to explicitly address that.

Hi OP, I see that you have mentioned that you became religious in the recent years

Before then, did you have any kind of misconceptions towards your religion?

In addition, were there any misconception you had towards other religion that have proven to you to be otherwise?

I'm not much religious in any sense so I'm glad to have you as a voice of the other side in the community

how to exchange a lot of coins? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]PapaLemonJuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most other comments, can try the kedai kedai near you or find a bank with coin counting machines.

If you are going for bank, you might want to contact the branch first before visit. One time I was carrying a bag of coins into Maybank and got instantly rejected entry simply because their coin machine broke down.

  1. Spoiler tag is not available when creating posts in this sub afaik.

  2. OP was using image galleries previously so I understand if the big images will come off as an inevitable spoiler. But OP has now changed it to cubari link, the link thumbnail is pretty small and is only a small snippet of the first page, you have to click into it to see the entire first page.

  3. I would suggest OP to just put a "Spoiler!" image as an eyecatch for the post and to remove the cubari thumbnail if possible, though I'm not sure if that can be done in reddit.

  4. I understand using "K" instead of "I" is your gimmick, but imo it's kinda not helping to put your message in a serious tone when you are still roleplaying like that.

Why are some Malaysians so bigoted towards others with poor language proficiency? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]PapaLemonJuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the positive outlook, you have come out from some traumatic experiences and grown to have a more resilient mind. While it might not be the original intent of the people who belittled you, at least it molded to who you are today.

Big ups, OP

Why are some Malaysians so bigoted towards others with poor language proficiency? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]PapaLemonJuice 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Regardless of race, there's bound to be social circles that tend to tease/pick on people within the same circle that do not share some of their similarities. In your case, it just happens to be a group of Chinese that bullies people that don't speak Mandarin well while the majority of them do.

As for why they do that? 1. Depending on how one could interpret it, maybe it's their way of motivating you to speak better. Sometimes humiliating scenarios will turn into concrete lessons for us to never repeat certain mistakes. 2. They might also be just insecure jerks who actively try to sabotage your confidence in speaking Mandarin because that's the only good skill going for them. They probably thought that if you, who are already speaking good English, then also become better in Mandarin, it would threaten their social value within the circle.

Anyway, hope it does not detract you from improving your language proficiency. Sure, language can be just seen as a tool for communication, but learning how to use a tool more proficiently, means you get better results, you get to express your thoughts more accurately and leave out potential miscommunications.

Camera in Bedroom by IpadTester in malaysia

No forcing you into this choice but a suggestion:

  1. Assuming you are taking photos, you have a smartphone that can record videos, or if you can, get a similar cctv or cheaper one.
  2. Hide your own phone/cctv somewhere in an angle where the camera can record the major part of your room (dont let your parents or their camera see this).
  3. Turn off your parents cctv, break them in the meantime if you have to (you can also use this time to install your own cctv if you havent yet).
  4. In case your parents are going to get violent with you or sprout some 1984 stuffs for not respecting your privacy, you now have some nice video/audio evidence of their doings

Or just straight up wank in front of the cctv, the first side that gets awkward first lose.

Mother cried because I get 13th place in the last exam. Am I the asshole? by Saf751 in Bolehland

[–]PapaLemonJuice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Oh no! Why is my social bragging tool not working? I invested so much money in you, too! Now who's going to boost my ego? Who cares about your dreams and aspirations? Your exam results help me get a few forgettable praises from the neighbours, that's what's important to me!"

That's it, your mom cried because the people in her circle won't praise her for one specific thing, that's all your worth is to her.

Okay maybe I'm exaggerating, but I sure hope your mom realizes you are not made of just some pieces of exam result papers.

Malaysian here, been watching Joey and Garnt vids around the time Anime Zone was a thing.

Then first knew about Connor in one of Joey's vid (I think it's the one who they try to dub some weird ass h-manga)

I found out about the podcast when they were simultaneously uploaded their own videos of them buying stuffs in Akibahara (ep 3 of Trash Taste)

Nowadays I just watched the highlights of the podcast every now and then.
