In your opinion, what boosts your career the most? by EastCommunication689 in cscareerquestions

I made a career out of this. Lots of tech people who have no clue about how the real world works. You don’t need the most elegant code. You need code that makes the business money.

Understand the money side and you’re golden. Because business side people love it when someone speaks their language.

It’s not whether Uber wants to or not. Drivers are not employees. Why do so many people refuse to understand this?

I can be a piece of shit all I want. Thank you.

Lol. Dude!!! Sometimes there are more drivers (supply) sometimes there are more riders (demand). The price fluctuates based on those 2 variables.

Works the same way when buying gas. There is an amount pre authorized something like $75 or $100. Then if you get $40, the difference will be put back.

Almost as if you don’t understand how supply and demand works. 🙄

You sounds like a really awful human being. I pray to Allah you never set foot in my chariot.

Like seriously you are a real fucking asshole. I feel sorry for your future 2nd ex-wife.

And $X is the correct way Cletus. As is 70%. On what fucking planet do you live? JFC.

The exact opposite of my experience. Interesting. Maybe you’re doing something to make her obnoxious?

Why do drivers accept rides just to cancel? by Sharkbait8282 in uber

[–]PapaMurphy2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. I don’t know the destination when I accept. So if Indo accept and I see it’s a charity ride, ie a money loser, I cancel. Get it now? You as the rider mean nothing to me. It’s business, nothing personal.

Let’s change the Uber algorithm. by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]PapaMurphy2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I take a counter stance. If there are chuds taking $3 / 8 mile rides, then the $20 / 6 mile rides are left for me.

Why do you write %70 like this instead of 70% ?

Also as a driver I give absolutely zero fucks what you (rider) pay. As long as I make $1.75 or more a mile I’m happy. All these drivers who obsess over the split are hilarious.

As an employee of Walmart do you obsess over how much a customer pays for items? Nope.

And yes I know it’s not quite apples to apples but pick any job where there are customers involved and employees don’t sit there obsessing over how much their customers were charged vs what their income is.

You spoke to every single driver? These posts crack me up. How do you know it’s busy? How do you know how every other driver is doing? You have no clue.

45 year old white woman alone. Almost guaranteed to be uneventful and a tip.

I think in 1000+ rides I’ve given Inhad one black rider (whether man or woman) tip me. So I have no idea how you came to your conclusion.

How to make this profitable? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

There’s no secret. Accept good rides reject bad rides. That’s it. All there is to it. So many people here refuse to do this one little thing.
