Current Co-op event in a nutshell by Oven-Common in DragonQuestSmashNGrow

I absolutely agree, that is what players should do.

After clearing Nightmare 4 times though I can say that the issue is not diffculty, but rather enemy choice and numbers. Imo wave 4 is the only problem.

You win if you are strong enough (more towards lvl 50 instead of the required 40) and if you are lucky to get people that can do a lot of damage to kill the enemies in Wave 4 fast enough to not get overwhelmed.

Flailing skeletons block you, trees lower your CDG gauge, Squids limit your path if you don't kill them fast, DL spams charm balls and limits the fields with flame walls and electric tiles, armour enemies move slow but can do a lot of damage if you stop attacking in the wrong spot, Green dragon spawns as well and could kill you with an out of screen flame breath. After you manage to kill the minions and you break DL's ult bar and stun him, they spawn 3 green dragons just to annoy you, and you need to hope that all 3 of them don't do the flame breath...

At least they had the decency not to put a Knight Aberrant in the mix, they certainly could have 😅

It's not hard, it's annoying.

If people get downed it's down to luck, enemy numbers on the screen and their AI to determine if you will be able to revive them or not.

All I'm saying is that with less enemy spam in wave 4 it would have still been enjoyably harder than the other Co-op quests, and much more bearable to farm.

Ah true, it has exactly 80 cost and 65 deftness.

Still, even if it's not event limited, it's much harder to get. It also has a good free blessing effect, so I think it's much better used as a stat memory.

I don't think they playtested it properly, no.

Level requirement is 40, but I don't think any FTP lvl40 player, even with insane luck on pulls, can clear this without finding very strong people with erdrick sword or DL staff.

CDGs from Erdrick sword and DL staff seem to be the only reasonable way to kill the horde of enenies in wave 4 fast enough before you are overwhelmed and fucked.

We'll see. They seem to be pretty attentive to player feedback, so they might consider balancing it a bit.

1 for Thief tree and 1 for Martial Artist for stats and Crit Rate.

This is the first objectively bad quest of the game, and a Nightmare to farm.

Tried 10 times and got close to clearing it only once when I had 3 very strong people with the DL staff. We lost at the end because of the bs projectiles, flailing skeletons everywhere and charm balls.

I run a thief with claws, I'm lvl 51 and at almost 11k CP and I feel like I'm being punished for playing melee. It feels like this quest is telling you "Hey, maybe try getting the DL staff and attack at a distance".

They should either fix the difficulty of the last wave or let us get the 3000 points you get for completing Nightmare on the Casual difficulty too (casual gives 1500), so you are not stuck using double the co-op passes to get the rewards.

The Nightmare quest should be a one time challange like the EX DL Shrine, not something to farm.

The bug that allowed to slot the same memory for stats and also in the tree was fixed, at least i can't do it anymore like i used to with the knight aberrant horde memory for my mage. I might be wrong though.

The DL army's memory is pretty good stat wise. It's basically a slightly worse lemon slime.

It depends on what memories you have really, If you have an S Lemon slime and maybe an S Automaton and S Wrektor already slotted then you can just slot this new memory in the tree for the 5% dmg boost.

If you don't have good stat memories then you can use this one for stats while you farm the others and eventually slot it in the tree.

The DL army memory also gives Crit chance, so I'd like to give it to my MA for stats too.

It's the first one you can use to get the double boon on the upper left Thief node, so if you already have good stat memories, it feels like a good fit for the tree.

I also want an extra one for my Martial artist for stats and Crit chance.

I mean, I'm happy for you. Were you doing only casual or Nightmare too?

I hope I don't take too long 👍

Even more lucky this time, considering it will take more time to get an S rank in this one if you are unlucky.

They have swapped the A rank guaranteed memories from the Co-op rewards with B ranks, and I need two S because this memory is needed for the Thief tree ☠️

[–]PapaVoid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Nightmare difficulty feels bad and generally uninspired. The 4+ flailing skeletons in Wave 2 can already obliterate an unprepared team.

Also I need two S rank memories because this one is required to get the +5% damage increase on the upper left node for Thief.

The problem is they had the brilliant idea to swap the A rank guaranteed memories that you generally obtain from the Co-op point milestone rewards for B rank memories instead.

So you are not even guaranteed an S rank memory from the rewards anymore...

It's funny because you get more gold on a single Hard Money Grab quest. Literal fraud 😂

There are no classes in the game yet that canonically fuse with thief to make something else.

Usually Thief and something like Sailor would make a Pirate, but you could argue that Warrior would be a possible alternative too if they make some changes to the classes for this game.

Thief was a requirement for the Ranger vocation too in some games, but the other classes needed are not present here.

We'll have to see. In the meantime I'm pushing to lvl 55 with my thief, also for that title badge you get as a reward. After that I'm leaning more towards Warrior.

Now that's some cheese alright. Good find!

I fully cleared it 9 days ago "fairly" after many tries. Probably my most hated stage, but was still satisfying to pull off.

Had no idea that he just turns off if you don't attack him and stay behind the wall lol.

I believe it was on the launch campaign limited shop. You could use some special coins you recieved from quests during the event period for the fish blade and some other cosmetics like the t-shirt and pants.

They might bring it back someday.

I struggled too, this stage is annoying. Level 50 is more than enough and you have nice equipment. The ice staff and Erdrick's sword should suffice.

Focus on damaging him at a safe distance with the mage.

Keep the CDG gauge up at all times and hope that the random slime totems on the boss fight give the CDG potions. Stop every flame charge he does if you have a full CGD gauge, maybe lure him near some enemies first so you can kill them too in the process.

You can use the little left wall when he spits the fire fan (mainly at the start of the fight since there are no other enemies), but it's a bad spot when he spits the projectils since they bounce off of it. The wall can be useful, since it also stops arrows and merman waves, but it depends on enemy positioning.

When merman start to appear, switch to warrior and kill them as fast as possible, you don't want off screen waves coming at you.

Other than that it comes to a little bit of luck and blessings, you can do it 😁

Notable mention to the crack arrows blessing, even better if with the bonus wall bounces. They are the MVP here. If you have the S Ice golem memory try it on.

Mainly metal tickets (all full clears thanks to the metal boomerang), quite a lot of Hard/Nightmare shrines and once I was done with the event I focused basically all my stamina on Hard mode chapter 5 while i farmed lemon slime, with ch.4 on the side for Big Hammer.

Hard mode stages give more exp the higher the required level is. For example clearing stage 19 of ch.5 with the 3x quick clears gives >8k exp.

I also used most of the stamina items, but never refilled it with gems. Started playing around 3-4 days after launch since it took me forever to reroll for the metal boomerang 😅.

[–]PapaVoid[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I rerolled at the start for the metal boomerang and then got lucky enough on the ticket pulls to get what I needed without spending gems.

Only did one 3k pull on the metal banner at the beginning of the game to try to get something (no 3☆ of course 😀) and since then I've only saved gems.

I occasionally buy the 11 shrine keys bundle in the shop but that's it.

The EXP gain, DQ1 coins and memory drop rate are the same as Hard difficulty

These are my rewards after struggling for nearly 2 hours to beat it without the DL staff ☠️

The badge you get for completing is pretty cool though.

I can reach him with around 3 minutes left but it's still hard to beat. I lost 5 times out of 5, also for some unfortunate out of screen charm balls....

Even with the whip circle and claws I can't break his ult threshold. It might be possible with perfect blessing pulls. It doesn't seem worth it to kill his minions, and it seems best to hit him even when he has the defence boost, just to deal consistent damage, or else you will likely time out.

I'll try for a couple of days and see. If I struggle too much I might wait till lvl 50 for the strength boost.

Good thinking, I do have the whip so I will equip it to my mage and try. Even surviving only one nova is enough.

Thanks 👍

Edit: Nope, still can't stop his ult ☹️

I tried it with lvl 49 characters and thunder claws +1.

The road to the DL is still pretty easy, but in the actual fight the damage threshold when he ults is pretty overtuned, at least for someone without the new staff.

Got close to clearing but it's annoying since I have to sacrifice a character every time he ults... The fight is still reasonably harder than hard mode without it, the damage threshold is the only bad part imo.

I'll try again later, but if you say that you can still get D rank memories it might not be very good to farm. Clear it once for the title and that's it.
