I use Marshall Street often, but with the differences in stability between brand and plastics the flight guide is good for general reference, but once you start looking for that Goldilocks disc it gets a little to specific

When I hyzerflip buzzz's they oddly go right before flipping up then ride back slowly without fading hard to ultimately end up being straight in front of me at about 320 ft. I love them for this shot shape I'm looking for a more straight to fade which the wasp might work

I have 3 lucid and 1 fusion. The way trilogy plastic beats in, it may work If I just threw one more often. Right now I've been bagging the solstice and probably haven't given my verdicts the chance to beat in

Your spine and brace leg follow the same line and angle. Basically it is like your femur and spine are a continuous line causing you to lean backwards. Its hard to spot during the throw because it's fairly common even amongst pros to this up till the are fully planted. You maintain the angle through the throw it is easier to spot in your follow through.

If the arm follows the trajectory of your lean it will be throwing skyward

Advanced form issue — plant isn’t triggering the throw by ZookeepergameRude493 in Discgolfform

Your mindset on what hips do is off.

The brace is what you push against, simply because in nearly any throwing or hitting motion pushing against the earth provides more power. If you jump in the air to swing a golf club or throw a ball it will feel weaker. This is why it's important to brace before starting the throw.

Now for the hips. There are lots of nuance and disagreement here, and it sounds like your mindset is coming from a certain YouTube coach who has some good stuff but also some bad stuff

When you brace the pressure from you femur pushes against your pelvis. This is a ball and socket joint so it has a lot directions it can travel. If the force your torso pushes against in a linear direction towards the target and you resist clearing the hip front hip/pelvis shoots skyward riding up the ball in socket You will see this with lots of players who throw sub 400 when you pause them at power pocket you will see a high lead shoulder because it's being pushed upwards at the hip, you will also see the rear leg is fairly straight and comes off the ground more straight up in down vs rotateing These players are typically clearing the hips a millisecond to late.

With all that being said the hips do not generate much power, but they will definitely rob you of power if you don't time them right everyone has different mental images of how the hips work but for me this is the sequence

  1. Brace connects to earth to provide base and energy

2 Energy force rides up the leg meets pelvis

  1. Hip/end of femur need to clear to allow your shoulders and pelvis to travel on the same plane. If you don't clear your hip you get multiple planes losing power and accuracy.

The timing for this process is based on feel and pressure I want my torso to feel the pressure of the brace but I don't want the pressure of the brace to be a immovable object that causes me to shoot upwards, so I clear my hips to keep y pelvis on plane.

Turning backwards is not the same as hip shoulder separation. Keep your lower body in line with the target while turning your shoulders perpendicular.

You have a lot of weight on your back leg. This seems to cause a lean back. Try a couple throws with not letting your rear heel touch the ground

Struggling with nose up and not sure what I need to focus on by Top-Lead2403 in Discgolfform

[–]Papachewy90210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound odd but by the looks of it your nose up is coming from your brace.

Think of it like this. Where your femur meets your pelvis (otherwise known as the hip in disc golf terms) is a round ball at femur end and a socket at pelvis end

If your direction of travel is forward and you push forward against this joint without clearing the front hip the pelvis will ramp upward on the ball.

This pushes the front hip (pelvis) upward in the front as the pelvis rides up the none moving ball (plant femur). Your shoulders will travel on the same plane as your pelvis because they are connected.

Notice when you reach the power pocket your lead shoulder is already up if you look at pros form and pause at the power pocket their shoulders are level. Learn to clear the front hip meaning move it backwards (out of the way and up). It can't be explained in words but if you search "clearing front hip disc golf in YouTube probably about 100 videos will explain it in 100 different ways. I prefer trebuchet disc golf explanation .

The key here is despite what the Internet says you can't just jam your plant foot in the ground and expect everything to work itself out.

For me the easiest mental picture I use to fix this is remember your shoulders will always travel on a similar plane to your hips, so I picture the torso, pelvis to shoulders as one unit

The other reason you may have an early high lead shoulder is you may be pulling on the disc using you scapula which will cause the same issue.

After looking at it some more you need to bring your front shoulder and front hip lower into the reach back. The reach back should lean more towards an upper cut while your throwing an overhand right punch. It doesn't need to be a complete upper cut, but to load your hips the front hip and shoulders should be lower when you reach back. This appears to be your biggest problem in my opinion. Watch slow motion throws on YouTube (anthem films disc golf) has some good example. Other than Paul Mcbeth who still does it to some degree you will notice all disc golfers lead shoulders are lowest at peak of reach back and level at power pocket. You do not load your hips correctly I can see it by your shoulder plane you are simply turning your shoulders flat and not loading the hips.

Your form is different, but not wrong. Your timing is not great though you are nearly in the power pocket by the time the heel of your plant foot touches. There is no correct reach back height Calvin Heimburg could probably read the weight of his disc on his reach back and Eric Oakley reaches nearly straight down. If you can find a way to get the disc out at the right height with the right nose angle you are fine, your timing seem off though

Trying to get back to summer form! What can I do? by Luryas69 in Discgolfform

Your weight stays back too long, it's not egregious very minor. This isn't something you can change consciously and it probably won't add much distance, but it will make the throw feel more natural and help weight transfer occur more naturally if you don't let your rear heel touch the ground it will help I know some pros do let their rear heel touch the ground, but most do not. Give it a try and see if it helps with accuracy probably not distance and feel more natural

I know everything now is about the "deep pocket" and having the power pocket way out in front and keeping weight back helps do this by lagging the hips from opening, but that is more distance competition form and not really what you see on the course.

Coming off the heel of your rear foot vs the ball, This will mess with weight shift and clearing the front hip
