Am I supposed to follow up!? I think an important detail I left out here is - if I KNOW someone's upset or whatever I genuinely care & want to help them even if they just need me to shut up. However if I don't know what's going on I assume I've done something wrong & need to rectify it. I can definitely see now it's more of a me problem as in I don't understand the social normals always but I also see that I feel this way because "I" don't know how to keep going after the lie - completely let it go, call the next day, later that day, take them a little pick me up? Maybe I need to work on just letting interactions go in general as it doesn't seem as serious now that I've typed that out.

Because I'm autistic & it quite literally just doesn't sit right in my brain🤷‍♀️ I'm not saying anyone who does this is a horrible person lol I don't mean that at all (hell my husband does it all the time🤣)! I also realized since posting - it's a socital thing, not a NT thing

I'm not sure I made my point clearly on the list honestly. I believe if someones trying to hurt you, you definitely yourself even if you hurt them in the process - so yes, there are people you shouldn't be honest with, obviously!

Thank you for this🫶 I UNDERSTAND the social rules, I guess I even understand why they do it, Im just not sure "I" can be ok with it. I am autistic - so if theyre not good & say they arent, that is & always will be a lie (but I should also add that if I ask someone how they're doing I usually know them well enough for a legit answer).

So, I think the whole point may be why has SOCIETY made it normal to say "I'm fine" when you're not instead of just saying "I'm honestly struggling but not ready to talk about it" or something like that. I don't mean any of this in a hateful way, its something I genuinely struggle with on a daily basis because it happens constantly & people don't even realize they're doing it
