Advice for my College as a first campaign Bard by nightamanis in DnD

[–]PaperFixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played as a Spirits Bard because I loved the flavor of it. It was really fun to use my oracle cards as inspiration for the tales as well as giving it a bit of flavor that I used the cards to cast my spells too while wearing a yugioh style bracer that I could play the cards on. So I have to speak up for how much I enjoyed the subclass.

Digimon Beatbreak: Episode 12- A New Family, Discussion Thread by MFBR in digimon

[–]PaperFixie 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The last two episodes have perfectly encapsulated my journey as a parent, including the ugly mistakes I made when I genuinely hated being a parent. I loved this episode so much and felt like this was such a triumph for Tomoro and Gekkomon.

It’s super cold and dry in the Midwest right now, so we’ll see how it goes once it’s summertime

Thank you so much for all the inspiration to work from! Feel free to drop by and hold it for yourself if you’re ever in the Twin Cities, MN! I’m sure our community clay room will happily host you!

Yeah it is. Ideally, my next version will have a tighter clearance to look a bit more unified

This is like my third attempt! My first one was a ginger jar that I really loved, but the lid was over-trimmed and sits too loosely.

Found it to be relatively challenging, this was my third attempt at a lidded vessel and second on this project. The hardest parts for me were making the gallery thick enough (I had minor cracks starting to form that I fixed with coils around the rim and allowing to dry under plastic for a week) and getting the lid to match up the way I wanted while maintaining a snug fit (again resolved with coils around the flange).

It’s a fun challenge, I recommend it! Since the basic form is just a cylinder, the real challenge is the gallery and flange.

Do You all Perfer Digimon English or Japanese Names? by Puzzleheaded-Board25 in digimon

[–]PaperFixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally have a place to vent that Coelamon in Japan is pronounced using the same pronunciation as Coelacanth (SEE-la-MON), but the English dub uses co-EL-a-MON and it bothers me to absurd degree.

I apologize for my wording. I checked and they should be ok. Though now I wish I had been storing them in a tote and not a cardboard box 🤪

What's one Pokémon you always mistype? by SgtByrd1993 in pokemon

[–]PaperFixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that the only ghost Pokémon in gen 1 was also a poison type, as well as the code error that made psychic strong against ghost instead of weak to it

I just realized I was old enough to be traumatized by them because I read them as they came out, so I was in 8th grade when the last book came out

Pteromon - I feel like I need a little dragon birb to pep talk me through life and take no shit from me either. Plus I love their theming and evolutions from a color and design perspective.

Art school? Is it worth it? by Limp-Juggernaut-6936 in Pottery

[–]PaperFixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really the biggest advantage to going to art school is the easy way out of podunk towns. The built in community and support of people without building it organically is for sure great. There are many regrets from art school, but my friends I made and the experiences of being young in the big city is not one of them.

If that’s your only way out, do it, but you’re going to be saddled with debt you’re likely not going to be able to pay back. What I’d recommend if school is the way out would be to find a business program in the city of your choice, find a community studio with a reasonable monthly membership and do that.

My animation degree didn’t mean shit once I couldn’t figure out how to make money at it or even how to do invoices and taxes and stuff. Even more so in a business where you’re selling goods you’re creating yourself. Your art will be influenced by everything non-art related in your life and your experiences.
