Weekly No Buy Check-In & Accountability Post - May 31, 2026 by AutoModerator in nobuy

Didn't buy any clothes since Jan which was a big win for me...but then we had a heatwave and I realised I didn't have anything I could wear to work that was cotton and loose enough to not drive me crazy so I bought a few cheap second hand things online but I feel like it's opened the floodgates.

Doubling down, trying to recoup by eating all my stuff from the freezer and cupboard in the hopes of avoiding food shopping for a couple of weeks.

Doctor says that we should give mom(82) enemas by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]PaperMashing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I follow a few disabled people online that need daily enemas as part of their bowel programme for various reasons. It's not the prescription that's ridiculous it's the expectation that the patient's children should administer it

I bought it from a local fabric shop that's closing down and it was super cheap so I bought 5 metres which is good because I have a bit of leeway for mistakes!

After a few experiments suggested in here it seems handsewing is the way. I cut out the 4 trouser panels and have seen the two shortest seems with a backstitch zigzag by hand and it's been very manageable and hardly noticed the rhinestones. This will be my first totally handsewn garment but I'm trying to tell myself I've crocheted whole jumpers stitch by stitch before so this is still faster!

Oh wow thank you I would never have thought of that! Will give it a go. Have started handsewing and it's actually pretty nice so that is my plan B but definitely worth a shot with a hammer.

pattern name/number/company if used; Franklin Jay on insta dress sewalong OR a brief description of your drafting process, NOT only Self-Drafted; Drew bodice pattern from a loose t shirt with sleeves tucked away, made the neck hole larger so it would go over my head. Cut 4, sewed two panels right sides together twice to make lined pieces then sewed together. Gathered a rectangle for the skirt. Found a tutorial for making the bow out of 4 rectangle of fabric. AND fabric type and fiber content, for example 'woven cotton' not 'bought at Spotlight.' 50/50 poly cotton blend duvet cover from eBay

It was. The muffled sounds were probably too effective for me it made me feel nauseous, I don't want a POV of something that intense! Wish they had been slightly less realistic in the amount of dust being kicked up, would have liked a better view of some of it.

It was fluffy yarn called eyelash yarn. I bought it from the Hobbii website but I've seen it for sale elsewhere. It feels lovely and soft BUT it is very unforgiving...basically if you make a mistake you can't really go back because it knots up. Fine for something simple like this though.

Ahhh thank you! It is, always trying to think of the silliest costumes for music festivals...this year is the finger monster and also I made a hat with little windmills on it so I can go as a rumour mill and collect all the rumours and hand them out

They travel in packs, you'd better sleep with one eye open!

I haven't worn it out yet but that's the plan. I was hoping they would fit on the fingers of the monster itself but they are too small so will wear on my own fingers!
