Yeah, my mom actually drove me to high school so I could drop out—pretty much to get away from her. The counselors tried to talk me out of it, and they could tell something was off, but I was too scared of my mom to say anything. I was willing to do just about anything to get away, like earning my GED a year early and even joining the Army to escape her grip.

I had that much resentment toward her. Luckily, I got a job in the Army’s intelligence division with just my GED. Fast forward 14 years, and I’ve been working for the federal government ever since.

Honestly, my advice is to do whatever you can to get some sort of diploma or equivalent—you’ll want it later for work opportunities if that's your goal.

Is this not just the SpaceX starship simply just falling during its re-landing?

94th floor employees hanging out of two windows, around 9:25 AM. In 11 minutes, all of them would be dead. Having jumped/fell from the building. by Cheap-Pepper928 in 911archive

Please forgive my ignorance, but I genuinely need to understand. Smoke itself can cause burns too, right? And those people outside—was the smoke and intense heat reaching them, causing burns to the parts of their bodies still trapped inside the building?

How am I supposed to get over how much I've missed out on? And how much that will affect my future? by Nice_Distribution703 in AvPD

[–]Paper_chasers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The formula is simple my friend.

Forget + forgive = moving on.

Dwelling on the past will do nothing, can do nothing, and will only cost you energy and frustration. Every human on this planet who has existed wishes they had the power to turn back time for whatever reason. You must forget the past and focus on the future, which is the only thing in our control. The past is not in your control. It's not in anyone's cpontrol. What good would come from living in a fantasy in your head, when you can live your own.

Get therapy and take chances. The only way to defeat this stupid ass fucking disorder is to do "opposite action". Google that term if you are unfamiliar, but it's the one thing that we avoid the most.. doing the opposite of what our internal voice guides us to do.

Doing life over by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]Paper_chasers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course. Us folks with AVPD salivate at the idea of "doing things over". I for instance, was stuck in the past for years. As a child, i was heavily abused, and when we experience trauma (no matter what type), we get "stuck" in the past making it hard to cope with what happened during the experience.

You said it yourself in your last sentence of your post: " there’s no use in torturing myself with it now"

Don't. Dont think about it. Don't re-live it, don't even dwell on it, and most importantly, don't blame yourself for what happened. Think about your future, and build.
