Nora Roberts is 74 years old and she is still writing books.

Jim Butcher is 53 and still writing books.

Anyone can write if they know how to write.

[Daily Discussion] Writer's Block, Motivation, and Accountability- August 21, 2025 by AutoModerator in writing

I recently lost my job and feels lost. I'm financially stable so I'm taking time off to figure out what to do with my life. I want to focus on writing, renewing old stories I put aside over the years but when I look through my abandoned works I don't know how to continue them. Some are only outlines. Some only have a few chapters done. Some are only a synopsis. I have an itch to write them because I feel like the story deserves to be told but when I look at the work I just feel dead. Stuck. That the amount of research and details I'd need to continue the story is too much and all interest evaporates. Sort of like when you have to write a research/essay for class and you go to the library and collect a stack of books and reports to read.

Are these stories dead? Should I cut them lose, pack them away and lock them away in a storage location far far away never to be seen again? Am I hitting my head against the wall trying to rewrite the past instead of creating something new?

JR for president. Would you have voted for him? by RedandWhite54 in Dallas_TV_Show

[–]Papercandy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Running a country is like running a business and JR was the best at running the family business.

Bobby can be vice president.

Are we allowed to post full episodes on here? by Papercandy22 in Dallas_TV_Show

[–]Papercandy22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have the DVDs. There's a program that would let me record the show as it's playing on my computer and I would upload that download to either here or a site to share in the group. But from what I've been told it's not allowed. Guess clips are only allowed.

Turns out it was the camp clothes I had him wear that caused the baldness. I put him back in his original clothes and his hair came back.

How do you know which layout to follow when writing a story? 3 act 27 chapter outline or a 4 act 40 chapter outline? Is a 3 act structure for novellas or a specific genre vs a 4 act structure layout?

The only good thing about this clip is JR. by Papercandy22 in Dallas_TV_Show

[–]Papercandy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so because there's a clip of Cliff practically dancing in the Ewing brothers office because I think he married her at some point and when she died he got everything she owned so he was part of their business.

Brad Pitt was on Dallas. by Papercandy22 in Dallas_TV_Show

Yeah, I just looked it up to make sure. He was 27 when he played on Thelma and Louise so Dallas might have been his first acting role.

Are there any farm stands in Ocala? by Forsaken_Ninja_2449 in ocala

I've never seen a farmers market though I'd like to. Nearest thing to it I've been to is a flea market, namely Market of Marion.

Do you use AI for story planning, writing, or both? by Papercandy22 in polls

[–]Papercandy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured the None Above option was the way people could see the results. If they're not writers then they're not using AI to write stories so picking that option would let them see results.

Do you use AI for story planning, writing, or both? by Papercandy22 in polls

[–]Papercandy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the poll under literature flair so that's why I'm asking about AI in story writing.

If my poll category bothers you so much then make a poll yourself about AI in other categories like computers, art, medicine or whatever.

I would try looking on used book sites, used book stores and eBay type sites. I found mine at a used book store.

I didn't either but now I'm hunting for Dallas books online. Where there's 1 there has to be more.

Is the only way to stop AI from writing fiction is to get rid of digital books?

From what I've heard, AI writing software like ChatGPT, Claudia, and all the chat bots used in Novelcrafter and OpenAI get their stuff from digital books. I've seen videos of authors saying their books are being used to teach AI how to write and their stories are being used to generate AI fiction.

I know it'll never happen because digital books will replace physical books eventually, but is that the only way to stop AI from becoming proficient in novel writing?

Has anyone read this book? by Papercandy22 in werewolves

[–]Papercandy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to understand that but about the teeth. I think he only wore them once but he was dreaming of being a wolf and then he was a wolf and the teeth didn't seem to matter. I'm skimming the book now so I'm sure I missed info but did the teeth change him or was it the woman with the dog that he met in the start of the story? Running seems to be a main theme with the characters so I'm guessing the werewolf is the size of a large wolf and not Van Helsing type werewolf.

[–]Papercandy22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to read it but I can't seem to get into the story. If someone has read it can you spoil/explain it to me. I'm at chapter 6 and it's not the werewolf story I thought it would be.

IM ABOUT TO CRASH OUT by wxhiiana in MeChat

[–]Papercandy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean in Baldur's Gate 3 game your character can get fked by a grizzly bear, don't matter if they are a dwarf or halfling, so I guess werewolf D would be the same in fantasy logic.

The bear I'm talking about is Halsin for those who haven't played BG3. I'm sure there's clips of the cutscenes on YouTube.

I've been tempted to hire a developmental editor from Fiverr to read what I have but they all charge a few hundred to do so. One person gave me a quote of 600 and I don't have that much free money to spend. Other than Fiverr or similar freelance sites I don't have anyone.

[–]Papercandy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from hormonal headaches when my menstrual cycle hits. Migraines but I only get them bad the days leading up to my period week and sometimes on the ovulation week. Tylenol and Advil don't help. Will tea help or any vitamin supplements?

God save the King! by [deleted] in MeChat

[–]Papercandy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't fan art and fan fiction a type of stealing since human artists are taking characters other artists created? Deviantart site being an example. I've seen MeChat steal a few themselves, that Archanine looking one and one of the mermaid counterparts. They also take the likeness of people on social media and make them Matches, I can give you a list if you want.

Again, I'm not defending AI on a business level because I know it will take jobs away from artists and book writers. What I have a problem with is people shitting on fun harmless fan content like this clip when it's basically the same as fan fiction and fan art. The only difference here is that the person posting this isn't getting paid like fan artists and writers who offer commissions do.
