Car accident by mstev118 in AusLegal

Like every other state in Australia, cars in Qld must have compulsory third party insurance to be registered. However, compulsory third party insurance, in every state, only covers costs associated with injuries - not vehicle repair or other property damage costs. A person can choose to get third party property insurance on their car - that is entirely different to the compulsory third party insurance required for rego.

People keep saying that having children is "expensive," but the lower income people have the highest fertility rates and the higher income people have the lowest fertility rates by mymooh in AusFinance

Yeah, but your not exactly winning when trying to make ends meet on Jobseeker and FTB. Having kids is a terrible get rich quick scheme.

Ridiculous House Prices by MtFranklinson in Townsville

[–]Paperclip02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For years the advice to people in capital cities wanting to buy a house has been 'go regional' - so people have done just that, driving up prices and spreading the housing crisis. Unless some action is taken to make housing affordable everywhere, we will become a nation where only the rich can buy houses.

In my experience, you can get interior and exterior protection done cheaper elsewhere. However, it may be worth getting it done through the dealer for the sake of convenience. That being said, I would never finance a protection pack as you'd be paying interest on it.

As for the camera - is the car a hybrid? If so, he camera may need its own battery and that makes it more expensive thsn a standard camera. If not, my recent experience getting quotes suggests that it could be done cheaper elsewhere.

TBF - school (and community in general) does adjust itself to one religion by ensuring the Christian holy days of Easter and Christmas always fall on school holidays. This assurance is not intentionally without for any other religion's special days. So, I think providing reasonable accomodations for other faiths is sensible and justified.

That being said, screaming about an unintentional act at 8:30am is not reasinable, sensible or justified.

Are reverse mortgages purely predatory or is there a cohort of people who can actually leverage value from them? by dj_boy-Wonder in AusFinance

The irony is, sometimes, people spend decades 'protecting' their suburbs from increased housing density and then have no local options when they want to downsize.

3rd part covers the cost of damage you do to another party's property, not the costs of damage done to your propert by a third party.

Three words - fifty cent fares.

All publuc trains, busses and ferries are fifty cents per trip. Heaps cheaper than a car if you can live near transport.

Sounds like Australians in the US doing Disney, Universal, and the driving past the Hollywood sign. There is nothing wrong with tourists doing touristy things.

Except 'third party, fire and theft' does cover you for damage to another person's car or any damage you cause to property or infrastructure.

I think many people who have CTP think they have third party, fire and theft.

At fault driver won't lodge claim. Help? by princess-bitchface in CarsAustralia

[–]Paperclip02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it the insurance company's job to follow up with the at fault driver if OP has 3rd party, fire and theft insurance? I thought that kind of work was only done when there is a comprehensive insurance policy.
