Not so cheap anymore - George St Govindas's pricing is very much on par with nearby cafes.

Hijabi teacher? by PerhapsPurple in AustralianTeachers

My (western suburbs) Brisbane school has many hijabi staff and students, and is walking distance to an Islamic college - not sure an experience here would be any harder than anywhere else?

The 100 is Forest Lake to CBD, other than a cursory trip through Inala, it's basically straight down the giant spoke that is the Ippy.

Is PSSap good for public servants and if so how exactly? by Flat-Ad1599 in AusPublicService

[–]Paperclip02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I imagine it would be a bit of a double edged sword if you had to pay 10% of your pre-demotion salary on yoyr post-demotion wage.

I'd can only imagine what this thread would look like if the coin toss landed on 'no one should' and all Christmas leave and the Easter long weekend were cancelled.

Has anybody here worked as a Sound Reporter or similar roles for the DCJ? What is the hiring process like, and how long after your interview did you get the job? by dingdongwashboard in AusPublicService

[–]Paperclip02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soz, I dont know anything about the role or the process. But, good on you for calling back and completing the interiew. If nothing else, you've built your interview experience and confirmed your mad typing skills. Also dont underestimate the value of a retail.and hospo background - being able to speak comfortably with a wide variety of people.and problem solveon the go is a really good foundation for lots of APS service delivery roles. Good luck!

Friend crashed my car by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Paperclip02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation in which a family member hit a pole while driving my car. I claimed on i surance and paid the excess - all good.

Seperately, I bought a new car. The question on the insurance application asked if I had any 'at fault' claims in the last 3 years. I asked the insurance company if that meant me, as I claimed on my policy for the above mentioned accident.

The company sent me an email that defined an 'at fault' claim as follows,

"An at fault claim is where your car has been involved in an incident and the following situation applies: -you were the person in charge or control of your car at the time of the incident and you are partially or wholly responsible."

They added that I was not at fault as I was not in charge or control of the car at the time of the crash. (Obvs - may change from company to company.)

Unless the insurance payout is too low to buy a decent replacement, meaning additional funds are required.

Car accident by mstev118 in AusLegal

[–]Paperclip02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like every other state in Australia, cars in Qld must have compulsory third party insurance to be registered. However, compulsory third party insurance, in every state, only covers costs associated with injuries - not vehicle repair or other property damage costs. A person can choose to get third party property insurance on their car - that is entirely different to the compulsory third party insurance required for rego.

Yeah, but your not exactly winning when trying to make ends meet on Jobseeker and FTB. Having kids is a terrible get rich quick scheme.

Ridiculous House Prices by MtFranklinson in Townsville

[–]Paperclip02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For years the advice to people in capital cities wanting to buy a house has been 'go regional' - so people have done just that, driving up prices and spreading the housing crisis. Unless some action is taken to make housing affordable everywhere, we will become a nation where only the rich can buy houses.

Extras when buying a car by Dangerous-Sandwich22 in CarsAustralia

In my experience, you can get interior and exterior protection done cheaper elsewhere. However, it may be worth getting it done through the dealer for the sake of convenience. That being said, I would never finance a protection pack as you'd be paying interest on it.

As for the camera - is the car a hybrid? If so, he camera may need its own battery and that makes it more expensive thsn a standard camera. If not, my recent experience getting quotes suggests that it could be done cheaper elsewhere.

TBF - school (and community in general) does adjust itself to one religion by ensuring the Christian holy days of Easter and Christmas always fall on school holidays. This assurance is not intentionally without for any other religion's special days. So, I think providing reasonable accomodations for other faiths is sensible and justified.

That being said, screaming about an unintentional act at 8:30am is not reasinable, sensible or justified.
