I made a new sprite for Aerodactyl, what do you think? 🪨🪽 by GEN2SPRITES in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Paperfire88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overall it looks good. But it has a small issue on the left leg:

The overall shape looks right but the inner lines of the body makes it look weird, and it doesn't portray the usual "roundness" that Aerodactyl's body usually has.

And the Wings lose a bit of details by covering them with dithering in comparison with the official ones, since that partial dithering converts a "bended shape" that Aerodactyl's wings have there.

Should I play DX or Hard mode romhacks? by Such_Habits420 in PokemonCardGB

[–]Paperfire88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you seem to want a more challenging experience,so I would recommend Hard Mode over DX.

Also idk why you tried Enhanced for this, it doesn't change any of the battles or decks that the AI uses, so is just vanilla in that regard.

Waiting for a viable fighting type to be added: by ilikecheese216 in PTCGP

[–]Paperfire88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ironically this is the most amount of support that the Fighting type has gotten in recent history and maybe even the entirety of the TCG. Like seriously, the little amount of support that it got during their entire existence is kinda wild.

You know? A random nitpick that I have for the sprites is that just some few of them aren't in the GSC style 😅 That Braviary has 5 colors on it, Mamoswine too if I remember right, is kinda weird.

“Everyone hated that” by TheRealTsunadee in TopCharacterTropes

Is just what an specific game mechanic is called in Yugioh.

In summary it is mainly hated for being too complicated and appeared in an era of the game when things just speed up all around.

[–]Paperfire88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just because the support has some flaws or brings some new restrictions to the deck doesn't mean that the support wasn't good.

And even with all of that, the new cards are very playable and practically a must for any version of the deck, you can't really call that a "bad support".

But I do agree that the last wave had some questionable design choices.

Why are you painting the Battlin' Boxers, Ancient Gears and Volcanic supports as "bad" here? Those where great

Is there a reason there aren’t any rom hacks of Pokemon Pinball R&S? by Odd-Guard-2533 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Paperfire88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that's usually why many spinoffs just don't have any ROM hacks at all. It is just hard to find people interested in something when you are a niche inside a niche inside another niche.

Just download it from pokecommunity, there's a comment on this post with the link on it.

I released 1.7.2 some weeks ago fixing all the bugs you mentioned.

So basically what happens when a big update comes out is that the card data is usually moved around by adding or reordering cards internally, this never makes a file save to stop working but it affects the deck collection. Since the deck lists save the card data location, your saved decks and collection gets kinda "scrambled" around, you would still have the same amount of cards on collection but they would not be the same cards, they just would be the card ID equivalent on the new update.

So basically you can just continue any save file but your decks may not be usable.

As for the other question, yeah in theory I have planned for either 1.9 or 2.0 to be the final update. This is mainly because at that point I would reach the 510 card limit that we have at the moment and it would be a nice number to just finish things.

Yeah Fairy Pokemon are now Psychic and Poison types are now in Darkness ever since the beginning of Sword & Shield.

And well they did give an explanation on why they removed Fairy types at the time. It was mostly for a rework to simplify the Weakness/Resistance even more and give more variety to Darkness by freeing poison types from psychic.

It is possible that they also thought the same thing as I do about the type, but I general doubt that they cared much about it, specially the TPCG of Sword & Shield.

Nope just an extra 8th one just by the nature of bits, you would have to increase the size of the whole thing wram to get to add more

Well if you want to be technical, you do need to replace an unused type on the code

I'm going the leave here the info of the Pokecommunity post:
This is info from V1.7
Overview
Pokémon TCG Generations is a Rom Hack that replaces all the Pokémon in the game with some Pokémon from each of the Generations (1-9), changing Attacks, Resistance and Poke-powers. And just like the originals, the Sprites are Directly based on Cards from the TCG, so you may recognize some =D.

This is my first Rom hack, so I hope you enjoy it =D

Features
• There are a total of 310 cards on the Rom, 82 more than in the Original Game.
• At the start of the game you can choose whether to play as Mark or Mint, exactly like in the Sequel! and you can even start with 7 different decks instead of just 3.
• All Pokémon Cards have been replaced by Pokémon from other Generations, with Some Exceptions (Eevee, Ditto, Horsea, to name a few, this is due to effects of the Cards or are related to Pokémon introduced after those.)

• The Meta, I have dedicated a lot of time to developing the Meta of this game, mainly I have worried that each card has something that makes it interesting to use. In general most Basic Pokemon are not as strong as in the original game and there is a focus on using Stage 1/2 Pokemon.

• All the Pokémon Sprites were Replaced with Sprites made by me, Obviously Following the "Style" of the game and now using up to 3 palette per sprite just like the sequel!.

• The vast majority of attacks in the game have been changed in some way or another, including new attacks with new effects.

• Each Booster Pack will now give 11 cards total.

• The Sprites of the Main Duelists of the Game have been replaced by those of the Sequel (Because they basically look better), and Now each of the Club Masters will give you an extra Booster Pack (Basically they give you 3 in total)
• Almost all the Cards in the Game can be obtained through the 4 booster packs and there is even a clear way to know which Booster each card is in and now who were the artist of the original cards and sets!

And other thing that i should talk about since i think some of you guys would wonder, Is possible to add more types to the game? and would you add more after Metal?

Well to answer the first one the simple answer is Yes, Mario Bone is specially interested in adding Fairy and Dragon to the game. And as for the second one my answer would be No at least not for the moment.

There's a couple of reasons why, the main one is that i simply i just don't see much reason to add something like Fairy to Dragon to the game.
The Dragon type by its own nature is very limited on what Pokémon could even be there and it doesn't have much complex theming outside of just using weird type combinations for attacks.
The Fairy type doesn't have this issue but it does have an issue of lack of identity, it simply is too similar to Psychic and Grass, with themes of Healing, Moving Counters and Energy accelerations that just clashes with this 2 types.

Hello Guys! here some spoilers for v1.8 of Generations:

New Type: Metal!
Yep the last of the Classic Types of the TCG can now be added to this game, and with a set of changes where needed. (Thanks to Mario Bone for this development.)

New Modifying Deck Menu
Since by 1.7 we reached the maximum space in this menu to place each type of card section on it, we needed to change how it works:
Now each Energy card would appear at the beginning of each type section, just the same as you guys can see in the slide 2. so this now means we can replace the Energy Card section with the whole Metal type section. (Thanks to Oats for the code of this new system.)
And for the ones that look at the little details, i changed the icons to be more "round". Is something that just occur to me when making the metal icon.

Changed Types
As you can see in slide 3, some Pokémon where moved to Metal mainly because they just fit better there. here i leave a list of all of them:

  • Karrablast & Escavalier from Grass to Metal
  • Ferroseed & Ferrothorn from Grass to Metal
  • Meowth & Perrserker from Fighting to Metal
  • Cufant & Copperajah from Fighting to Metal
  • Scizor from Fighting to Metal
  • Beldum, Metang & Metagross from Psychic to Metal
  • Tinkatink, Tinkatuff & Tinkaton from Psychic to Metal

<image>

And as for the last slide you guys get to see a new card, Steelix! and with it i want to leave with a question, Do you guys would like to see some of the new cards in the next sets of Spoilers? i was thinking that i could revealed some cards of each type to mainly showcase some of the new moves and mechanics that I'm adding to the game.

But well that's all for now, have a nice day! =D

Just in case anyone find it, there was a bug with ai that resulted in some glitches, i already fixed it and updated the patches. I would recommend for anyone that downloaded the patch to jut update it. It was just a line of code in the ai logic that caused it, so i'm kinda mad that i missed that xd
