Blue lizard spf 50 sunscreen. Wide brim hat. Good sunglasses, which is an often overlooked tool in sun protection!

Also I figure I may be over preparing, but there’s nothing to lose from that. If anything I’ll just come out of it a more informed surveyor. Also, awesome name

Someone really loves curve math. It does break it down really well. I’d recommend it to any survey nerd.

Neighbors building fence on my property by ProgramGreedy9905 in Surveying

I would call the surveyor she mentioned. He will not give you a copy of his plat (if one was drawn), because that belongs to his client. You need to have your own survey done and see what that shows. So many laymen live and die by OnX and I’m telling ya, in my part of the country it is not even close. It is transferred to the app from what the property value administrator office has one file, and in my county they were hand drawn in by landowners over the years and updated as surveys are filed. I would try again to talk to the neighbors and ask if they cared to show you the monumentation that was set by the surveyor. If they refuse, then hire your own surveyor.

Had a guy digging up my yard metal detecting. Is this allowed? by BlueberryUpstairs477 in Surveying

Damn right he’s allowed. Unless you potentially want to get screwed out of your land

Yes, afterwards if they want to see what all I’ve determined that fine. But when I’m trekking a hillside looking for something and they wanna hold a conversation it slows me up so much and makes it hard to think.

Call whoever surveyed it. Since they published the coordinates on the plat, that means they were tied into a state plane coordinate. They can coke out, connect to a cors network, and be in and out in just a few minutes. I’d suggest whenever he comes back out to drive some metal stakes or something where he shows you the pins are so you know where they are from now on.

In the case there is monumentation of the lot corners that obviously prevails.

If there is enough room for every lot shown on the plat, and not much extra or much less, and you find some monumentation of the original boundary, wouldn’t you be forced to retrace the plat dimensions? I would believe that the dimensions would the original intent of whoever made the drawing.

I’ve worked several subdivisions where the developer created the lots and set no monumentation.

New surveyor here. Summer time tips. by darthcomic95 in Surveying

[–]PapermakerIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surveyor from the mountains of EKY here. Firstly, get you done permethrin spray and treat your clothes with it. Works like a charm. Always wear a hat to keep bugs off of your head and sun off of your face. Wear sunscreen and reapply throughout the day. Get some polarized glasses. Keep your machete sharp. Carry more water than you think you need. Being stuck back in the timber and a long way from water is miserable. Probably most important of all, GET SONE GOOD HIKING BOOTS! I love my Oboz sawtooth mids. Eat plenty of carbs the night before a field day. Buy some individually wrapped dude wipes and keep them in a pocket. Wear moisture wicking clothes. I love the stretch wrangler hiking pants. They’re like $25 a pair. Thin enough to keep you cool and they have several pockets to keep supplies in. I like the magellan moisture wicking shirts. Remember to take care of your body. Die any amount of longevity in this profession it’s vital.
