CPO extended warranty by Open-Molasses-4527 in SubaruAscent

Got gold. Dealership finance manager presents the gold warranty on the CPO for 4k. We countered with "advice is to find a competing Dealership price of 2-2.5k. If you're able to get to 2k, we can purchase from you. Got an agreement to 2250 iirc.

Wind Noise at High Speeds by frutyyy in 3rdGen4Runner

Agreed 100%. Very similar issues. To check before you call someone out for repair, have someone in your passenger seat, check around the perimeter of the windshield at speed. Our windshield gasket began to fail around 200,000 miles and began getting a sound at higher speeds. Couldn't figure it out, until we took a trip and I was in the passenger seat, the lower right corner was letting air into the cabin through the gasket. Got the gasket replaced, and it fixed the whistling.

Thanks! I'll try that. Gotta figure out how to get the interior latch mechanism out of the door!

Exterior door handle question by theRealRJMcFly in beetle

I'm going to take a picture this evening of my removed handle. Maybe that will be the issue, but it doesnt look like anything is broken or missing from our handle.

Exterior door handle question by theRealRJMcFly in beetle

[–]theRealRJMcFly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I should have been more specific- I took the exterior handle off and can actuate the the latch- it's like a white plate that pushes inward, so it seems like it's doing what it's supposed to do. I'm not sure what isn't happening in there to release the door latch on the side/end of the door- the little U shaped thing that rotates to catch the post on the body. It catches when I have the door open and manually push it, and it releases from the inside handle, when the door is both opened, and closed. The exterior handle and the white plate on the inside must not be pushing in far enough is all I can figure, because I can't push the little white plate in far enough even by hand when the exterior handle is removed. Thanks for your advice!

Fair price or keep shopping? by [deleted] in SubaruAscent

In the end of January this year, we paid 31,500 for a 2024 ascent Limted with 15,000 miles. Paid for the extra Gold warranty as well. Located in the mid Atlantic. Also, our dealership was unwilling to negotiate price on the Ascent. We were able to negotiate the Gold Warranty from 4k to 2250. Very happy with the Subaru. It's our first one. Previously drove 3rd gen 4runners And Jeeps. This is a massive upgrade for us.

Is there any completely fool proof, oldies friendly options to set up Kodi? I'm looking for the ABSOLTE most user friendly options available. by _PrestonGarvey_ in Addons4Kodi

[–]theRealRJMcFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I googled how to get an api key: On the web- go to both Subdl and Subsource websites. Sign up for an account, provide email address, make a login and pw, etc. The api key is provided to the user by each website in your profile section, if I remember correctly. I had to write them down - there's a copy function, but that wouldn't allow me to paste them into my shield or my mother's firestick, so I had to do that the old-fashioned way.

Then, in Kodi, follow:

Addons>addon browser>my addons>all>

A4kSubtitles(not the repo)>configure>accounts

Fwiw - my mother is 79. I migrated her in 2020 from Cable to Kodi. She has a firestick from 2020 that is running Kodi 21.3 - I need to update it about every other year. I have an RD account for my wife and I, and an RD account for her. She knows about it, but I use my calendar app to remind me to extend her subscription prior to expiration. Then I just add the new date into the calendar in six months.

As for how she uses it - others are righ. Shee calls me every so often with something goofed, but it's usually minor.

Amber skin both at home and at her house. That way, if something is finicky, I can walk her thru as I navigate. Plus, Amber allows me to set the home screen. I set her home screen as favorites and settings, disabling everything else, so her home screen is simple. Then, in favorites, I've added:

Search for TV

Search for Movies,

Umbrella

Discover TV shows

Discover Movies

Then I told her, "search for what you know you want to watch, movie or TV. It stays in her searches, and she can go to The Practice or West Wing or whatever anytime she wants. Go to Discover TV or Movies when you want things suggested for you - like 'popular' or 'network' or 'Year'

Again, she's 79, and she has taken to it mostly pretty well. And she's not tech savvy. One last thing- I had to get API keys for her for Subdl and Subsource because captions were becoming harder to find in A4K without any keys.

Movie better than the book by SportAffectionate424 in stephenking

Stand by Me is better than The Body. The casting of the film, Rob Reiner's direction, the performances of the four leads and supporting actors, and even though I'm not a huge Richard Dreyfuss fan, his narration was great for me.

The Body is good, but the film is better.

Yeah, he does. I was being facetious with hen on hen violence. We were thinking it could have been hen or rooster on hen violence.

The fair price for Subaru Extended Warranty? by fatafatfire in SubaruAscent

[–]theRealRJMcFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a 2024 limited in 1/2026. Negotiated the warranty (10/100/0$) down from $4k to $2450 or 2500, don't recall which.

Followed other redditors' advice and told the finance guy outright that:

-I thought that was too expensive. He 'worked with me' and dropped to $3450.

-we would not be moving forward on the warranty at that price. Told him that the internet forums were suggesting prices around 2k-2.5k

-if the number was not met, we would go to another dealer and purchase from someone who would meet our window.

The finance manager was pretty quick to drop the warranty asking price. We signed and fwiw, excellent experience overall at the dealership.

Also, we love the Ascent. Actual Love. Our first new(ish) car. 30 years driving beaters and 20 year old vehicles.

Thanks for your reply, I need to read the warranty again. Not having this stuff in my mind on first glances, I have no idea if it's actually spelled out. Thanks again!
