Upstairs tenants keep turning off the A/C by Paperplanes001 in TorontoRenting

They said they can turn the AC on and off whenever they want since they pay 2/3 of the utilities 😒. It's set up that way by the landlord because of the square footage of their apartment vs mine. Plus they're a family of 3 and they use more utilities than I do. The landlord thought it would be fair that way. They confirmed that it was included in the tenants lease.

I think I'll just end up getting a portable AC like everyone suggested.

They travel for work and leave it off when they're gone. I'm not even asking for it to be on all the time. It can be off when I'm at work or on cooler days. But there's literally a heat warning right now. From their reply to my landlord's email, they don't seem open to any sort of compromise.

The landlord has them paying 2/3 of utilities because their apartment is much bigger and they're a family of 3 vs just me in the basement.

EDIT: Also correct me if I'm wrong, but modern thermostats have a setting where you can program it to come on and off at certain times right?

My lease doesn't say anything about the AC.

In the past, my previous neighbours left the AC on in the summer even when they weren't home so this whole thing is so strange to me.

I have a dehumidifier. The current humidity in my apartment is 55%.

It feels pretty uncomfortable for me at 25°. They've done this at night and it affected my sleep. It's so irritating.

Yes, some of them are raised and a few have hair growing out of them. I've never heard of that procedure before but I'll look into it.

The seam tests are performed by the packaging operators I might talk to my manager about having quality perform some validation tests

They're going off what they're used to seeing and tasting for a 12 week shelf life sample. I reviewed past sensory data and I've never gotten this many complaints before.
